Does anyone know what works with what.  I have an S2R 1000 with the 1000ds motor.  Someone is selling an un-red keyed ECU from a 1000DS but does not specify the bike it's from.  I suspect it's from a 1000DS Multistrada with termis on it.  Will this work fine.  Does anyone have experience with this.  If it will work, will it need tuned.  If it needs tuned can I tune it or do I have to have a dealer do it?

Let me know what you guys think.

i dont think there would be any issues at all. people have even used an HM ECU on a S2R1000 (though there were some ECU issues, but the guages are completely different on the 2 bikes so that would be the answer to the problem)

People have used S2R800ECUs (which works with PCIIIs) on 695s and threw on a PCIII.

I heard they could be a problem Reusing a ecu from a bike that had it installed already. Like, the chip in the key and the ecu got synced up

I wouldn't attempt to use an ECU intended for a HM or a Multi. Both of those bikes have digital speedos and will cause problems if used in your S2R1K.

You can use one designed for any 1000DS motor that has a stepper motor and an analog speedo. I have one on my bike from a sport classic. If you're unsure of which bikes have the stepper motor just look at the left handlebar controls. If there is a fast idle adjustment lever it doesn't have the stepper motor.

Slight thread jack - I have a S2R800 with the fast idle.  Other than the fast idle are there many signigicant differences between the stepper and what I have, or is it just a small evolution in the motor?
