But you do have to hand it to Clint, expressing his rage and churning out all these movies through his many years.  He is a hard working dude.  I hope he keeps making movies forever.

Sounds good, but the Torino got big and fat in '72 man...  '68 to '71 were much lighter and sexy IMHO.  & I've owned 5 (yes FIVE) 1970 Torinos.  No bullshit.

Paul Harvey did a "now you know the rest of the story" on Clint... turns out he was as tough in real life as in the movies. I'm trying to find an archived transcript, if I do I'll post the story.

Nope...  I've owned 2 Broughams, 1 Std Torino, 1 GT, and a 429 SCJ Drag-Pak equipped Dark-Green Cobra (.......project car).

The one Brougham I had was one of the few hundred or so 'Brougham Strippers' that slipped out the back-door of the factory.  Mine was supposed to have all the options (as were all these Strippers), but mine was a bench-seat equipped, 351Cleveland Cobra-Jet engine ('M' Code for those sick like me) with a close-ratio Top-Loader 4-speed.  Which was a LOT of car for a high-school kid to have....

The Cobra never saw the road under my ownership.  Bought it as a pile of parts, sold it as a pile of parts for nearly the same $$$.

I'm not familiar with the 'Brougham Strippers'. Will have to do a little research. With the 351C CJ I'm sure it had no problem getting out of it's own way!  BTW did you check out the size of the intake ports on the 429SCJ?  You could stick your head inside!

Which is why a single pattern cam is such a bad idea for those heads...  Also, if you're going to port them, you only have to do half the job!  Just do the exhaust ports & you're done!

A friend of mine is currently restoring a 1971 Cyclone Spoiler. 4 bolt SCJ block and all. That's where I had a gander at the toilet bowl ports. Reminds me of the FE tunnel ports without the pushrod sleeve. I would think on a street only motor filling the floor (gasp!) would be beneficial for low end breathing.

I have some pics on the way of the 69 for your viewing pleasure. Stay tuned...

Yeah....filling the floor of those ports is an option, but to get it done 'right' and consistently between all 8 ports might prove troublesome.  Fortunately, there are a lot of dual-pattern cams available with much more exh. duration on them to assist the port flow differential.  BTW, a Cyclone Spoiler?!?  NICE!!!!  Love that big, funky front end man...  Oh, and can't wait for some '69 Torino pics...  Oh, and BTW...I've DRIVEN a '69 Torino Talladega!  Hehehe.....

Not quite the same but I bought a '71 T-bird when I was a kid... 429 thunderjet as opposed to the SCJ. Still it was a hell of a runner and would pull that boat along well. Sold the car I still have the engine. Eventually I'd like to build it for my '65 F-100. That truck is gonna need chassis/suspension work though, and since it still shares daily duty with the Monster my plans are on hold til I can retire it. Love the old car talk.  [thumbsup]
