Stolen in Melbourne: Ducati Monster Black 1000s - heaps of carbon

Bike's been stolen, anyone lays eyes on a black 2003 1000s, rego is GO734, lots of carbon bits. Look for a low-down-son-of-a-pregnant dog thief with a big smile across his face (it always put one on my dial).
after this I'm getting a bolt drilled into the cement and will have to use a krypyonite chain....anyone know who I contact to get that sort of thing done.
After all the dodgy areas I've been to and left it, it got taken from my garage!
Based in Melbourne, police officer taking the report must have thought I was I bit weird, just talking about that bike makes me smile, bloody hell they are a great machine.
I'll talk to QBE on Monday - but even though I kept them updated on mods I don't think I'll get that back! Let's hope they joy ride it (nicely, please) and return it - but they store a jacket, gloves and helmet as well!
If anyone finds them, kill 'em, and I'll do the time for you!
heartbreaking just looking at her....geez I love my bike!

Your'e shitting me?
?
Thats gotta suck mate, makes me more than a little paranoid too. Lotsa these things are stolen to order (according to a Plod mate
) Maybe someone in Vic needs some parts??
Maybe I'd better update the secuirity on mine.
I guess the lesson there is to not leave the riding gear for the thieving prick/s , makes it easier??
Certainly makes one toey.

cancer will be slow and painless compared to me if I catch the guy. Knowing the garage can't be opened from inside (without a remote) I suspect it's a bit of a planned job. that whole steal to order thing could be the go, despite my glowing post on the police, I don't think I have much of a chance...but don't know...will the insuracnce company know how often bikes are found after being stolen?

Most possibly, I remember hearing once that those communal garages are a hot beds of stealing and shifty business as you said it's a bit like window shopping for crims.

Even more a case for
Sometimes I think bugger gaol. Bring back the stocks. Then anyone who's ever had a bike nicked can let the bastids know how they feel.

That make the beast with two backsen sucks man!!
If I can offer a glimmer of hope, well my young bloke had his road bike stolen from his garage, so he did the usual thing, you know, dummy spit, ring me to let me know, another f*^%ing c*^#ts dummy spit, report to police etc
Last week he got a call from constabulary, come and pick your bike up son we've got er 'ear in th' holding yard.
"You little ronny coot" said he. $160 later to release it and the damage was not too bad, so hey you never know.
Mmick (might have to get the old whoopin stick out)

I think its safe to say your first thoughts are right. Depressing as it may be I think the chances are slim that you'll get a recovery and I'm pretty sure the ins company will say the same thing. But mmicks story above tells me that despite the odds, don't give up hope!
So you are in a communal garage, and have a personal lock up inside as well? This is what I had in my former residence, and whilst my lockup had besa brick walls, the tilt-a-door was perforated so everybody could see in. I lost a mountain bike that way, as did one of my neighbours at the same time. Interesting that another neighbour has a _much_ better bike than the two that were stolen (as uber-light-weight cannondale), but he'd put some shade cloth over the perf door so people could not see in.
Guess what I did shortly after!
What I was told is that the thief can easily wait for the door to be legitimately opened by a neighbour, and then away the go. Remember that these garages also have sensors to ensure the door does not close on a vehicle, and a simple rag over the beam reflector will keep it open.
Was there signs of forced entry, or were other items stolen? Time to start asking the neighbours...
