Yo i posted this over in "Tech" but thought some local folks may have some ideas:

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Put my key into the ignition and turn to on, I just get a blip of light in the cluster, no gauge sweep, no fuel pump prime.
Checked all connections, checked fuses, checked sidestand wire. Replaced battery with new (and newly charged) unit.

Key turned to "Park" turns the parking light on no problem.

If it were immobilized the amber engine light would be on correct?

Worst case scenario?: Bad ECU/Gauge cluster? Do they just not work one day w/o symptoms?

I seem to remember some people having issues with moisture in one of the connectors near the steering head area there.  Antenna connection may be loose too...

Hey Edward....

Throw out some more info on this sitch.....

So your battery went down over time and you walked out to the bike and this happened, or what?  Then you replaced the old battery with a new one?  Anything out of the norm happen lately?   

Just as a precaution, you did hook up the battery cables to their correct pole?

Have you had your gauges  off the bike lately?  Reason I ask is that the guage cluster has an electrical connector on the bottom and maybe it did not get pushed all the way back in to the gauges...in fact just for fun, remove the two 5mm allen screws that hold the cluster onto the U bracket and lift off the bike....they're easy to find, you can see them sitting on the bike just below each guage (they are gold in color)...anyway, unplug that connector inspect the pins in the guage c, and then reconect it and see if that doesn't fix the problem......

Hey Paul,
I don't think the battery was ever the issue, i just replaced it just in case it was. gauges haven't been off the bike, the only clue that i may have a growing problem was when i put it up for the night 2 weeks ago, even though the ignition was turned to off and i pulled the key out of it, the system was still on. I put it back in and cycled it (full sweep, fuel pump prime) and then it went off normally.

When I replaced the battery I made very sure to do a one touch connect on each terminal to avoid shocking the system. The alarm LED is still blinking away

I will check the cluster electrical connector and report back.

Edward, the antenna Heiro of which speaks is kinda attached to the ignition switch..and please correct me David if I'm off the mark.....if you lift your tank, support it on the prop rod and look at your switch near it's base, you'll see a zip tied black wire coming out of the bottom (and I believe ) tied to the left bottom frame rail as it meets the steering stem...It seemed to me that I had to remove my airbox to fully see what was going on in there....., but is this now an intermittent thing?  Can you get the gauges to sweep at all? 

So, the last time you had the bike running was 2 weeks ago?  And again not sounding pompous, what battery did you replace it with?  Something brand new, or a surplus just laying around?

Try this; to reset your ecu's, remove the battery completely and leave out for about 15min.....then reinstall and see if you get the sweep-idge......,

oh, i forgot to mention, the antenna is a circular ring that's glued to the bottom of the key switch cover

So i did everything that i could by way of Paul and Rich's suggestion on  Wednesday night but to no avail. I took a picture of the front of the bike and what i cleaned with the electrical connection cleaner:



Also here is a video of what is happening with the bike after the work was completed. You can see the blip of the gauge cluster at the beginning. I then move the key to park mode.


I reckon my next move is to put the bike in the shop. Again, Thanks again to everyone!

I'd say, there's something wrong with you electrical system.

What about the, I'm not sure what you call it, where you insert the key? Did you take it apart to see if it makes contact properly when you turn the key? Does this make sense? Sometimes I feel as if English were my second llanguage.

that is really strange. now i am not in the know on this, i only have had my monster 3 weeks, but the audio is interesting.

when you turn the key to ON, is that the fuel pump we are hearing or can we also hear the cluster reseting? my cluster sounds louder than the one in your video so i wasn't sure. do you have to have the cluster installed to start the bike? have you tried to start it without? i cannot imagine what kind of system would prevent the bike from starting without a cluster or with a broken one, but like i said, i am a newb.

And did you attempt the Immobilizer Overide procedure yet?  and did you try your red key?

If still had my monster, I'd swap gauges with you to see if at least you get a gauge sweep/change...maybe somebody can step up here?
