To have a vote is so awesome...
I became a citizen as an adult, have traveled central/south america and central asia...sad.
I love having a voice in my country of choice.

Ya, permanent absentee is the way to go. Dropped my ballot off last Friday, maybe took 5 minutes tops.  waytogo

Popped open a really nice bottle of wine and sat down with the TV and laptop.

Well, you're almost far enough north to be in the State of Jefferson. You can always secede Grin

It would just be a 51st state anyway. What about becoming part of the Humboldt Nation?
Just think, I wouldn't have to bathe more than once every two weeks  cheeky

The downside is No more  bacon unless it was made out of Tofu.  bang head

On second thought I think I will just mind my own business and see what develops. Although I am stoked about Prop 1A

That is definitely excellent news. We've been waiting for that kind of thing for years.

Definitely some risk involved...but the rewards are huge. A drastic reduction in short-hop air travel, its attendant pollution and resource utilization, and less need for municipalities in the state to build & maintain airport infrastructure? I'll take that risk any day. But we all have different levels of risk aversion.

I used to work at SFO United Line. usually on the 737 Line. You guys got any Idea How many shuttle flights they have going on between here and LA/San Diego?

Totally ridiculous, just totally ridiculous!

All that fuel. And that's just United.

I fly to Ontario (LA-ish) every Thursday.  I'll never fully grasp the financial and environmental impacts of air travel, though I understand they are considerable.  I'd love to take the train if it proves to be a viable option, especially if it comes with a reduced environmental impact.

I like fast trains. Imagine bringing your own what ever you want more than 3oz.

<geek warning>
(Just Coke sells 1,000,000,000,000 bottles, every day, world wide.
A typical 737 flight to LA uses around 200 plastic cups + plastic bottles/cans. Because ---> the insulation in planes fills with water from humidity which ruins it, so they dehumidify the interior to around 1%, which is the driest place on earth. That's why you're always dying of thirst, catching illness, and generally feeling like poo when you land. Consequently they use lots of bottles.)
