Clever of Pramac & Ducati to tap a rider from South America - probably lots of growing markets there for both companies.

http://motomatters.com/news/2013/10/26/ben_spies_retires_from_racing.html

"The press release does not make it entirely clear whether Spies intends to retire from motorcycle racing permanently, but it is clear he will not be racing in 2014. Even if he does attempt a return, it is unlikely he will return to MotoGP."

since i never really believe MCN...

"Wanna say thanks to everyone for the support on this decision. It was a hard one, but now I understand when they say you know when the time has come. I always dreamed of getting paid to race a motorcycle for a living. Everything else along the way was a bonus, racing gave me so many friends and experiences of traveling the world. I hope I was able to contribute something back to the sport and will continue to do so. Thanks everyone" - Ben Spies

i've said it before.  Spies is done in MotoGP.  And I like the guy.

And I called it too on August 18.  I still like the guy but he didn't have any luck in MotoGP.  The duels with Haga will always be remembered.  waytogo

"...Spies has a number of business interests to keep him busy in his retirement, running a successful burger restaurant in Austin, Texas…"    His head will explode in six months.

He'll be back in a year or two….he's young, and modern medicine can do wonders, given the time and effort.
