Yuu and xLr8r wanted to go to the Dragon and I offered to lead since I had just gotten back from there with Rameses and Jobu. We met up in Richmond, Va, drove to Charlotte, NC and stayed the night.

Pics of the bikes in Charlotte ready to leave:

The bikes the morning that we left for the Dragon from Franklin, NC.

Yes, thats frost. It wasn't bad once we got out into the sun. On the way to Franklin, we chased a Honda Element up 28 from Cashiers. That car was scootin but crossin the yellows (dunno why he felt the need, we were several lengths back). It was a good and fun run. There might be video.

These guys are frickin giants.

Billy and I trying to figure out which way we're supposed to go.

Once I get my images from Killboy, I'll post em.

Termis and Zards - yummy

It was quite nice to hear the music. Every once in a while, all the exhausts synced up and sounded harmonious.

Like a fudge brownie with chocolate sauce  [drink] or even a Pint of Guinness with a shot of Bailey's.

JBubble, is there less traffic this time of year?
I'd like to head out that way from Louisiana in the spring, how early in the season is the weather good for riding there?

I don't pretend to be an expert on the Gap but I'll answer as best I can. I'm sure Journeyman could add some more advice since he lives in the mountains.

The weather up there will prolly start getting kinda shitty soon and could be that way till April or so. From my experience, the weather in our mountains during the winter can be a crapshoot. Bitter cold and wet one day and beautiful the next. If you wanna ride it this year, I'd suggest going soon.

Also, I'm not sure how long the professional photogs stay out there. Killboy might stop shooting for the winter months or only shoot on specific days. So if you're looking for professional shots like we got, then you'll want to check on that.

Traffic right now basically consists of BMW tourers, Harleys, and cagers. There's still sport bikers out there but not many. The volume was really low when I was out there this last time.

I think the traffic starts picking up again in April. I'd suggest keeping an eye on the weather and get out there at the first sign of 60+ degree weather. It gets crowded quickly in the spring and I already know of two big local sportbike groups that have planned trips for April/May.

Hope that helps and if I'm still living in NC when you get out here, I'll meet up with you to ride.

The crappy cafe in question, and hooligan parking

- if you find yourselves in Richmond go check out the 821 cafe.  It's a neat joint - I'd hang out there 'cept for the 90mi between home and there
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
