Are 2002-3 frames compatible with S-R SSS?  The 2002-3 frames look a little different from 05+ frames; there's a frame gusset in the area of the shock linkage where the frame tubes meet on the 05+ frames that isn't on the 2002-3 frames.  Are their shock linkages/geometry different?

From 2002 onto the 696's, the frame is an ST based one and the S*R swingarm will work on those frames.  Heck, if you wanted to get weird, an S*R swingarm will work on an ST! Hehehe....  That'd be odd, eh?!?

I thought that was the case.  So does anyone know why the gussets showed-up on the 2004+ frames?
