i had an Amstaff/ Shepard mix once upon a time.

he ate a cell phone (the old bag type)
he ate an arm chair
he ate christmas (everything under the tree)

so i put him in a crate.
and he ate his way out of it...

How old is Sunny?  If he's an adolescent, that would explain part of it too.

Mine still get crated when we're away.  It's not the evil that some people seem to think it is (as long as it is not abused).  Although mine are much older (10.5 and 11.5), it's just safer, especially living in an apartment where maintenance people might sometimes need to enter.

It is so cute the way they go running to the crate.  I use it for feeding as well.

I have a big crate that my two share, although Watson seems to like little tiny ones...when we have a dachshund friend visiting, she can sometimes be found squeezing herself into his tiny little box.

And even if you don't use it regularly, it's a good idea to have your dogs accustomed to crates so that they can be confined when necessary for medical purposes.
