I finally chopped my tail!

Ive been a bit nervous about doing it but then I saw a way to make it reversable.
Heres some berfore pictures.


In the photo below I will chop it right after the first  set of bolts where the blue tape is.The cardboard template is to predrill holes to match a 1/8" plate I can use to bolt it back together along with frame slugs with a 3/16 lip to match the cut off wheel I used.I made the 1/8" plate to match the carboard template and predrilled holes and put it in the box with the parts I removed in case someone would want it put back to original. My friend still needs to make the slugs but that can be done anytime.

I wanted to use the original turn signals and tail light, so I made a template and cut out a bracket and welded some studs on the bottom to go through the original bolt holes that I left.

And here is the final product. I need to get some cool frame plugs and that should do it. I wouldnt mind raising th exhaust up a bit but I think it turned out pretty nice.

Between the local truckstop and the local ace hardware I got the plugs done. And some acorn nuts on the license plate to go with the theme. A little crud flung up onto the bike during my ride but that's a small price to pay for not having that huge mud flap on the back.

looks great! im thinking about tail chop myself but i live in a rain-friendly area (tacoma) and so im afraid to get rid of the extra splash protection... i should just take the leap tho...

These bikes look SO much better post chop. I did it to my bike with only 400 miles on the clock.
Believe me, it was hard to take a sawzall to my brand new bike, but the end results were well worth it..

My kid told me today about an Xbox game he was playing.... don't recall the name though (of the game, I know the kid's name).  It's a motorcycle racing game, and he chose an s4r as his scoot.  One of the customization options lets you chop the tail off.  it was the first thing he did  --- That's my boy!
