Looks like Terminator Salvation has taken the bot idea from Aliens and Transformers and gone in a new direction. Check out these images:

This one share a striking similarity to the Face Hugger from Aliens:

You be the judge:

A "Monster" of a Terminator (I bet he'll drag hard parts  [laugh]):

Someone should have this guy duke it out with Optimus:

In reference to that giant terminator.

Why do they make that look like it's human still with 2 arms and 2 legs?  I don't get it?!

That first robot is similar to the snake-likes robot from a few diferent movies.  Seems like they had on like tht in Matrix

All the classic mechas have a humanoid form even though physics tells us that the humanoid form isn't the best for something that size. Who cares about physics though? It's a sci fi TV show!
ErkZ NOT in SLO w/ his '95 m900!
The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

I know that.  I've been around long enough to have had shogun warriors, micronauts, etc.

It's just COME UP WITH AN ORIGINAL F*CKING IDEA!!

I agree - we seem to be in a regurgitation cycle.

I dunno why but it reminds me a lot of the Matrix 3 armors that the humans used.

meh, can't find a good pic of it but found this one while browsing around a bit. As stated, it's difficult to be entirely original (or at least not reproduce something that's been don on accident) when using such a standard base design.

Yes, I remember those tank looking machines.  Hunter-killers, right?  Don't get me wrong..the new robot looks badazz but back to my original thought.  The terminators are supposed to pass for humans, right?  Then why make a giant terminator that resembles a human as well?  The same goes for transformers, etc.  What's the point of them being so human-like?   Why not have 4-6 arms/legs..something different.  Is it so we the audience relates to them more or because the basic human design is what got us to the top of the foodchain.

LOL, that's the coke addicted mech from Robocop 2!

I still think that ED-209 is menacing:

Ah, the ED-209 and Mr Kenny - good times, good times!

Ok, re terminator motorcycles. Every shot of the future has shown a debris strewn armageddon  - but the roads are a-ok? Also, look at how the guns are mounted - forward pointing only? Wow, so it basically has to be heading straight for you on a good surface to cause you any harm - I like those odds.  [thumbsup]
