Looking at buying one of these cans for my 06 s4rs, has anybody got any good/bad feedback?
they dont come with ECU or filter and as far as I can tell are designed to run on stock set up.
this is fine as I dont need any more power but am concerned about how it will run.

No FHE, as I'm a small bike guy  , but if I understood my dealer the "shorty" is supposed to run more or less as stock exhaust - a small weight reduction nevertheless. There might also be an issue with db-killers, or not, I'm not sure. Depending on where you are riding the bike, this might be a problem (if indeed they come without removable db-killers/baffles).

For what it's worth; they look good on a single sided swingarm bike and a Termignoni seldom lets you down audio-wise    Maybe midpipes will be good as well(?), but others will have to tell you if that mod requires tune up such as Power Commander blah blah blah ......

I've had a stubby termi on a 2007 s4r and now on a s4rs and the look and sound IMO are great. There is a removeable db killer but when i removed it and started the bike it set my house alarm off so it was quickly put back in place. The can comes without an ECU and filter and dosn't seem to upset the fueling, the weight saved is approx.14 pounds. [moto]

You can get the shorty with or without the DP ECU and Filter. I paid alittle over $600 for my shorty from Monsterparts about 2 months ago. It did not come with the ECU or filter. I've encountered no problems with the shorty on my bike. It is very loud and looks really good IMO. I will be getting rid of it as soon as I can get the Boomtubes.

Aside from the dealer demo I test rode, I have only experienced mine with the 'shorty' fitted. I've included a picture of how it looked the day I brought it home.

Personally, I felt it was a little abrupt from off throttle, and really anything below 4k. I fitted a 14t cs sprocket at the 600mi service which smoothed it a tiny bit. Still it would fight me pretty bad if revs dropped to or below 4k. Over that and it was great.

After much research trying to figure out a way to avoid the extra $1200 for the ECU, I ended up just ordering the full DP kit that includes the airbox, ECU and carbon slip-ons, as it was only a couple hundred more than the ECU alone. My thought is that if I ever get around to it, I could sell off the brand new carbon cans & get myself a roundabout deal on the ECU...

...anyway, with the ECU fitted... ..two words..  MOTO BLISS!!! It's livable somewhat without, but when you slap that ECU in there it is a major difference. Totally smoothed out the choppiness I described & also transformed the sound for the better! It is holy and evil all at once and when you get revs up over 7k it is the sound of Zeus himself!!

The potato is out. I tried it 'in' and it was ok & somewhat muffled, but not that big of a difference really. It made somewhat different sounds, at times similar to someone who's trying to run a marathon with their jaw wired shut. It wasn't that terrible, but I decided I wanted to let her breathe free!

Yeah, it's loud. It's livable though & not harley straight pipe loud, as I do believe the udder itself is doing a bit of muffling... I've since added an open clutch cover & the rattle can easily be heard over the pipe. Any trip longer than an hour or so I opt for earplugs!

Had one for a month And switched to Quat-D Ex-Box.  For the money and somewhat looks, I would go with the Ex-Box.  You lose the ugly udder and you can shave a few pounds

these guys had some for sale http://www.motovationusa.com/  might not be there presently though so try Jeff at Monster Parts, I swear that guy can find gold anywhere.

I ran the shorty pipe and had no issues on my bike BTW.  In the end I fitted an S2R, under seat exhaust.
