conversely, I wonder how the aluminum swingarm would look without any paint at all.

...been wondering this exact same thing myself lately...  wonder what the best process would be to achieve a bare n semi-polished result.....?

ok, got some half ass pics up in the garage with the low seat on. i'll get some better outside pics up soon...

by the way the low seat looks killer!! it goes with the lines of the bike perfect! much better than the touring seat!

ok here is a list of my next mods but i need some opinions also...

here is what i am for sure doing:
dp 14t front lightweight sprocket
dp 46t rear performace sprocket
ceramic coating the pipes black (waiting until the winter to do this because the bike will be down for 2 weeks!!)

here is what i need help on deciding what to do:
timing belt covers? dp carbon fiber or rizoma black ones
rearsets? i'm debating on getting the rizoma ones with the passenger peg kit?

the thing is, i HAVE to have the passenger pegs because my son loves riding with me. but having the rearsets with the passenger pegs kind of ruins the reason for even getting them. it basically has the same looks as the stock ones, which in my opinion don't look bad at all powdercoated black. what do you guys think?

you can check out the pics of the stuff here...

My opinion
- carbon fiber belt covers over Rizoma (too much Rizoma looks Japanese?).
- stock foot peg assembly over the very pricey aftermarket rearsets. I mean, if you're not doing it because you MUST have the pegs up/back, they don't pretty up the bike enough to justify the price.

Maybe there are other mods which deserve your money more?

My thoughts FWIW:

Since you wanna have passenger pegs, I'd skip the rear-sets - your powdercoated footpeg hangers look fine and there's no great aesthetic improvement by dumping them for pricey rear-sets with passenger peg kit.

On a white bike, I think the CF belt cover look fabulous....

Your bike just keeps looking better n better mrplease.... I need to get some pics up here of mine, but I'm (still) waiting for my long ago ordered Speedymoto clip-ons and top triple to arrive.....  Roll Eyescoffee

thanks for the reply! i'm leaning exactly in your direction!

i think i might go with dp carbon timing belt covers & not going with the rearsets. i almost think the stock ones look better than rearsets + passenger peg kit.

also i might want to do the speedymoto clip ons & top triple. i want someone to be the guinea pig first though. which ones did you order?

i was looking at these:

top triple: 03-0205BLK
clip-ons: 08-0250BLK <---- these do come with the bars, right?

i'm only worried that they won't fit the tank when you turn the bars like the stock ones do. i wouldn't want it to hit the tank when turning it tight. because the stock bars fit perfectly where the air vents are. are you concerned about this? also when is the eta on the clip ons from speedy moto?

with the stock setup it will push through and crack the tank skin there in the event of a tip-over (ask me how i know!). i'm thinking the right set of clip ons will keep the handles out of the way entirely.

i'm going to try the swatt moto variety with the 2.5'' or 3.5'' rise (not sure if i could get away with the 2.5'') and hope that it works fine with the stock headlight. the riser parts can be flipped 180° to clear the reservoirs if need be, but when this is done there will need to be enough rise to clear the top triple (cables/lines). ideally i'd like no rise! Tongue

keep us posted!

Yup, that's the bars n top triple I've ordered...

I think they can be made to fit without clearance issues....but if the result is not to my liking then..... ebay...

About 5 weeks ago SpeedyMoto gave me an ETA of "about 2 weeks"..... and a week ago they gave me an updated ETA of "2 or 3 weeks more...."  Roll Eyes....  Sooooo all I can say is that guinea pig day will eventuate...um... eventually.... assuming SpeedyMoto gets somebody at the bauxite mine to go dig up the raw materials some day soon...lol...

Once I have 'em fitted up.... there'll be pics.  So watch this space.

no, i know it will still crack the tank if dropped. but i was mostly talking about normal turning circumstances. i don't want it hitting the tank. but luckily ungeheuer will be the guinea pig...

yeah, i'm kinda leaning towards you. carbon timing belt covers & spending the doe on clip-ons and top triples instead of the rear sets.

thanks for the opinions too!

Just keeps gettin better n better mrplease  waytogo

Actually your taste in bling is very close to my own, I got me many of the same mods that you're running..... although in a different colour scheme.  I like your seat too (but I'm happy with the appearance and ride comfort of my DP touring/comfort seat).  How'd you rate the low seat on the nut-cracker scale?

the low seat is great on the nuts. the angle and material keeps you from sliding into the tank...

this is what she looks like when i take my son to school. the material on the back of the low seat is also better for passengers as its real grippy and keeps their butt in the same place. with my stock seat my son would slide against me and really smash "the boys" into the tank.

thank you low seat  bow down

With the color coordinated helmet and gloves, I can see you have an eye for details - so, allow me to be picky: how about powder coating the spring white and loosing the Termignoni stickers?
