696 Stock Skins, cowl, and fender...how much?
«

I see that Commonwealth Motorcycles will soon have aftermarket skins for the 696. The dealer had no idea how much it would cost to swap the color of my red 696 to white.
Any of you tried this yet?
Parts needed:
Front fender
Bikini fairing
Tank covers
Seat Cowl
My guess is over $1500.

Acck!
Yeah $$$.
I'm not interested in Carbon parts though. Just want all white stuff on a red frame. Perhaps down the road when more parts are available.

I'm assuming you have the red panels. Are you trying to keep those too, or just do a swap?

Well, stupid me, could have ordered the bike white/red from the dealer. But I just went with the red/red combo. I'll probably keep the red parts and buy white ones. I get fickle.

I completely understand that. I got mine white from the dealer, but think I would prefer the red. If there's a chance you would want to swap, please let me know.

I don't think dealers are offering the 696 in anything other than stock from the factory color combos. I think white with the red frame would look great. If you do the swap or get the red painted post some pics

The dealer had three bikes on the floor, red, black, and white. The salesman was more than happy to have swapped the white covers onto the red frame. I just didn't do it though.
But I agree with you. It's probably not possible to order a different color combo...it would be up to the dealer to do the swap.

I'm thinking of going black on red frame, so if anyone has a black 696 and wants to swap, holler.

i wish i wish they had made the rear subframe red on the red framed bikes.
but that looks GREAT! now he just has to follow up with black on the headlight frame, from exhaust shield and exhaust hangers, and maybe even the rearsets.

I would not be surprised if Ducati came out with an all red frame/subframe in the future.

Oooh - I like the look of the white on red too. Anyone in the PNW wanna swap?
$380+ per side for replacement stock parts is ridiculous.

That looks sweet!
So how is the tank configured on the 696. I always assumed the the tank was a tank, but if it is just removable panels where is the actual tank located? is it still under there, or has it been moved somewhere else?.
I have an older monster, which I Love, and I like the vents on the 696 tank cowls. So I had a pipe dream of combining the two at some point.

the fuel is actually in a plastic fuel cell that sits behind the airbox and goes down to where your 'seat' is. you're basically sitting on the back of the cell. the side panels attach to the cell and airbox. the top comes in two pieces as well. so when you look at a 696/1100 'tank' you are looking at 4 panels covering a fuel cell and airbox.
