Guess who made the head for the Celica GTS which is the engine for the Lotus Elise/ Exige these days?
Wow, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for sharing lethe.. is this the 1.8 litre VVTi engine?

Yup but in the case of that engine it's actually VVTLi, lift is variable as well.

Hell even the regular VVTi Corolla engine is pretty impressive when you start tearing it down. I have the original engine from an '02 Corolla that I had. The engine failed on me at 260,000 miles and I replaced it about a year before getting rid of the car. I have it sitting in the back of garage and occasionally take a bit more apart on it to see what it was about. Pretty impressive for a run of the mill economy car engine. Those Japanese are quite crafty.

Frankenstein's engine. Just make a real one, why dontcha? For anyone that hasn't heard what a real V16 sounds like:

Amen brother. The BRM V-16 has been one of my favs for 30 years now. Here is another favorite engine Maserati Tipo V5 (5 litre V16).

Both the Tipo V4 and V5 had Roots superchargers on each crank nose. I wish I had a better picture so I could blow it up and frame it. Of course, I'd settle for one of the real things permanently mounted on a brake dyno to get my fixes.

Oh yeah, just found an in-car clip of the BRM.
