They need to stop making women cover up in the middle east...you can't have a proper chick-on-a-GSXR unless she's in a thong and flip-flops.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, but from the looks of the photo with the gal riding stiff armed, would-be attackers have little to fear.   coffee

Ya I haven't been practicing my on bike marksmanship for a while. Got to get that back.

One of my architect friends just moved back there. She says 25% of the worlds cranes are there in Dubai - that's how fast they're building over there. This is where all of your money went.
9 years ago it was a sand dune. Now they have so much money they're building a series of man-made islands in the shape of a world map, so big you will be able to see it from space.

If you look closely, the gal in front has had her helmet knocked all wonky because the gal behind hit it when she got up.  I'm going to venture that any attackers would get away unscathed while the walls of the surrounding buildings were pock-mocked by stray bullets.   cheeky  Gotta give Dubai a little credit for trying...sort of.

Gixxer 1000 - now there's a sensible cop bike.  Roll Eyes

Reminds me a bit of my first motorcycle, which none of you probably realize was a Harley.  The story goes like this. Many moons ago, the US govt, in their infinite wisdom (and desire to place US products around the globe) bestowed upon the tiny African nation of Dahomey, a bunch of H-D police bikes, for use by their crack gendarmes. Only one small fly in the ointment: the average Dahomian stands about five foot nothing. Needless to say the HDs spent a good deal of time on their sides, or zooming away from their riders. So Dahomey decides to sell the H-Ds at auction, whereupon a family friend picks up two. They are complete basket cases and after a few years sitting in the garage he decides to give them to me, figuring I'd make one rideable one. Of course, at that point I was about 5 foot nothing myself, and completely unencumbered by any mechanical skills. But I dutifully ordered the shop manual, full of pictures of guys in white lab coats holding immaculately clean parts. None of this bore any resemblance to my corner of the barn where the reassembly was going horribly wrong. Finally, in disgust, I realized things were not going to improve, and I traded the pair to a friend for a rideable Suzuki 150 smoker.

So you see, my first bike (sort of) was a cop bike.

Maybe Dubai is nothing but big, straight freeways?  (Somehow, that seems really possible over there.   laughingdp)

I'm on the short list to go to Dubai for work. They have a pretty good track that costs about the same is it does here in SoCal for a trackday. If I get the jo, I'm buying a bike there instead of trying to ship mine.

PS - That'd be pretty slick for a while.  You'd better post photos if you go.
