Mase is doing really well these days. He moved to the physical therapy unit at Good Sam in NW a couple months or so ago. He's getting a good 7-8 hours of physical and mental therapy a day, so he is progresssing much faster than at the other place that didn't provide any therapy at all. I believe Joann and Bob were hiring an outside therapist to come in a do it but it wasn't much. He can carry on conversations like a champ and only has a couple lapses, i.e he'll say something to the effect of "Yeah I just got back from surfing this weekend" or "I should take my wife on a cruise." So he does have a hard time discerning past from present. All you have to do is correct him and he takes it pretty well. He is able to stand for about a half an hour at a time with the help of a support apparatus. He is still regaining feeling and mobility in his left leg and arm (right brain injuries will affect the left side of the body) but every time we see him he is doing a little better with it. He spends most of his time in a wheelchair instead of his bed now and even went out to the Governer Hotel for Thanksgiving with his family.

so all in all, he's making tremendous improvements, but he still has a long way to go. It's still a crapshoot as to whether the old mase will come back fully or not. His personality is definitely different so he may never come back the same way he was before, but he's here with us and that's the important thing.

Thanks for asking Chuck, I'm sorry we haven't called you before. Let's make a solid plan to go see him this week k? I know I'm a horrible friend.

ps I still have your t shirt you bought.  Kiss

Hey that hit the spot right there. It sounds very positive considering.

I spent some time today reading all the stupid insults and arguing on SportbikeNW about the recent rider injury at LRR and I nearly posted the same question thread Chuck. It made me think of the Mase Maniac Mofo.

Nice to hear the update.

Thanks

Nice to hear he got out of the hospital for Thanksgiving dinner.  I usually start getting sick of it after just a day of being stuck in there.  I can't imagine being there for moths on end.

What unit is he in and what's his last name again so I can find him?  Andrews?

I believe so, yes.

I think it's called RIO Therapy Center or something similar. It'll be on the west side of 22nd.
