Hi ... I was wondering if anybody still rides 2 up since we all have our own bikes. I certainly do because I'm so new and not ready to go it alone always... I still kind of enjoy it, just sort of veg out on the back and enjoy the view. I may change my mind after I get better riding alone and I do miss my bike when we are on a ride. Just curious......  |

I'll be going from bike to bike to try to see to it that everyone gets a little "special time" with my butt on the back. I might also be taking a newbie on the back of my bike. 'Sall good.  I do a few trackdays every year and I almost always try to get one "fast session" in on the back of one of the instructor's bikes. I almost always ride faster myself afterward. After going 155 mph down the front straight on one wheel, toppin' out at 105 on my 400 seems like nuthin'!  I don't mind riding cupcake in general... you really get a sense of how others ride and I just sit back and enjoy the scenery.

I've ridden cupcake several times when my bike was in the shop. Like you said, sometimes its fun to veg out.

In 13 years of riding I've been on the back of my brother once and it scared the crap outta me knowing what I now know about riding. Before I learnt to ride I was choosey about who sat behind now I'm even more so.

I ride cupcake on occasion (even rode from San Francisco to Reno and back as a passenger on a Hayabusa). But I have to know the rider and trust their skill and judgement to do it. I have to laugh at the idea of vegging out though, I find it to be harder work than riding my own bike, especially if the route is hilly. I hate it when my passenger slides forward into me, and try very hard not to do that to anyone else.
I think the experience may be a little different for me, as I learned to ride my own bike long before my first ride as a pillion.

I think vegging out has different meanings to different people. For instance, when I ride cupcake and "veg out", I am still fully aware of what I need to do as a passenger (bracing myself, leaning correctly, not wiggling around, etc).
For me, it has more to do with not needing to physically be messing with my hands and feet all the time, not necessarily being a poor passenger and not paying attention.
