So far I've removed the orange reflectors, put on RhinoMoto bar ends and CRG mirrors (super simple with big results imho), and painted the heat shields and cans.

I'll definitely get the headlight piece powder coated soon and I'm thinking about vinyl wrapping the forks. The only pictures of wrapped forks that I've seen have been wrapped in black which I think looks awesome, but I'm also thinking about mimicking the gold look of the M1100S and like this beautiful monster below...

I kind of like the idea of an entirely blacked out monster and if I go that route I think I'd do a black wrap on the forks and get the silver peg carrier powder coated black as well. How do you guys think that would look? Can anyone tell me how hard it would be to remove the peg carriers (is that the right term?) Would the bike be ok to sit around with those pieces removed? And has anyone ever powder coated the clutch cover? It's another piece that I think could be coated black. If anyone could throw together a photoshop of these ideas I'd really appreciate it and I'd appreciate any feed back you guys might have.

gonna have a hard time achieving gold with a vinyl wrap. vinyl is vinyl, it's not glossy, or metallic. its prettymuch a satin/semigloss black, or whatever other flat color you choose... those gold forks are anodized. you could do that, but would have to remove the forks, disassemble (perfect time to respring!) HARD anodize (UV proof), reassemble, reinstall. or just buy the ohlins R&T forks $$$$

Definitely black for the forks.  And if the peg carriers/foot controls/rearsets (whatever you want to call them) are similar to what is on the S2R800, they come off easy.  Get a good set of metric allen sockets (which you'll need for the whole bike) as go to town.  If it was my bike I would cut off he passenger pegs and black them out too.

Nice lookin' bike too!  The new style is definitely growing on me

Yeah going the full anodizing route isn't what I want to do. I'll consult with a vinyl shop and see if they have anything close to that look, but I'll probably go with black anyways. I really like the idea of a "mean" all black bike. What other parts can I turn black? Has anyone done something similar before? I'd also like to make the bike even more naked if possible. Is there anything I can do for that?

not sure you could just remove those "wings".  The bolts that are scalloped out look like they might be the ones securing the swingarm.  I've downloaded the parts manual for the 696, it has exploded views for everything.  You might want to check that.

I have been running it on my bike for about 1.5 years, and it still looks good, I have a source if you are looking for black

yeah, you used to go by stephen on TOB?. It is indeed a great idea.  I did mine a lil different than voodoocati, as I liked the contrast of the brushed al and the black.  If you look real close you can see imperfections, but I have been very happy with the wrap.  It is very hard to use...lucky for me my oldest brother has been in the sign biz for10+years.  Ask some friends if they know anyone who works at a sign shop and go for i t.  I think the guy murderduc had done it too his 696.
