Once upon a time there was this place where all God's children with Ducatis laughed and played and shared their stories and their knowledge amongst  each other .

Then one day a wicked Giant came masquerading as the great Savior which all the Ducati children where very sceptical of .

The Giant said that he was there for the good of the Ducati children and he would make their lives better in so many ways and he would not change the beautiful world in which the children laughed and played amongst themselves.

The children grew more and more suspicious of this Giant and his promises and so the they expressed their fears of him in a 28 page or longer thread .Then one day it happened.

The Giant changed the happy world of the Ducati children and they felt so betrayed that they became disconsolate and they abandoned their changed world and dispersed into the wild .

Many days and nights went by and the children grew very melancholy.

Then as if a miracle had taken place , like the sunshine after a terrible rainstorm word spread of a new world where the Ducati children were once again being reunited with there former brothers and sisters.

One by one they began to appear and before long many of the lost children were together once again to laugh and play like never before.

And so we come to find ourselves happy participants of what is known as the DMF.  A very special world made possible by a few extraordinary individuals.     Dolph

And they all motored happily ever after.

I found TOB when I decided to sttart riding again. The info I found on there helped me decide on my Monster. I watched the riots, the mass exodus, and came over here. I still visit TOB every so often, so that I can help any wayward Ducatisti find the promised land.

Started on TOB in '03/04.  Then when I moved I stopped visiting and lost track of it.  Found it again right about the same time as the great mutiny .

I started out on the other board,... then moved here.

It's been about 6 months now, I think.... the other board has had 5000 new posts in the time that 270 000 new posts have been created here.

Oh, and the good news is, the DMF now tops out on google.  waytogo

I am from the board that we do not speak of... NEVER go there anymore. (I always have issues signing in) It was the subtitled Hitler movie that got me here.

I migrated.  I admit I still look at both classifieds as sometimes there are things that are there and not here and vise versa and if I'm ever selling anything I'd post both places and every other ducati board I know but otherwise i'm pretty much here.  That was a weird couple of days.  I knew nothing of the politics involved but picked it all  up from all of the posts.  No less, all of the ads and the lack of support for pictures aside from the weird story and I just come to this board for the most part.

I cringe at the technical advice being given out there. One 'expert' guy is recommending Titanium pistons, can't provide a source tho  Grin

Ok, since you asked, here's an abbreviated version of the history with links if you want to delve into it.  As much as I don't like to link to TOB, there's no other way to explain it as well.

The DML was bought by a company called Vertical Scope, a for-profit advertising/media company that owns motorcycle.com and has been buying up motorcycle forums to increase their advertising market.  The saga of VS and the DML can be found here and here
I haven't been able to read anything over there for a while, since I got banned.  But I figured out that I just have to delete the cookies for ducatimonster.org and they can no longer prevent me from going over there for a peek.  That first thread was started by me.  I guess being banned doesn't automatically delete thousands of posts you've made over the years.  I find it interesting that I'm listed as a "Premium Member", five stars, 3,931 posts and "banned".  What kind of message does that send to people checking out the site?

I guess my last dozen posts there were about leaving the site, so they "helped" me by canceling my membership.

As to the original question, I'm pretty sure that all of the important people migrated the first week.  Wink

-The DML was literally a "list" or email list in the beginning. A community of Ducati owners that helped out with tech advice, and rode together. Purchased by Jeff H (monsterparts) and Martin from motowheels. The email list is still active but low on traffic.
That original Micapeak email list still exists and has regular, but light, traffic on it.  You can access it here: http://micapeak.com/mailman/listinfo/ducatimonster

Jeff H has been heard from over there recently.

IMO.

It does seem odd that the OP is no longer a member here.

I migrated.  I just noticed one day that my user name didn't work there any more.  I needed a new monster home and here I am.
