Our family dog, Kiva, is in the doggy hospital tonight. Apparently he has kidney failure. He may not live through the night. If he does my family may have a hard decision facing us. Let's hope and pray he gets better.

He's been a great dog, going on 14 and been with us since he was a few weeks old. If he goes it will be a huge loss to our family.

I could really use some good thoughts.  Cry

Dammit all to hell! I am sending good thoughts, this too probably a bit late.

Please don't take this wrong but 14 is pushing the far end of doggy years. Some do live to be like 17 some times but the quality of life goes.

Think about the many good years you had together and be ready to let go  Cry sorry hun, sucks!

I miss Gina  Kiss

good luck to your little dog.

It does suck, we just went through this with Gina.  Her parents dog is about the same age as Gina too, so makes me wonder if thats just the magical year for dogs.

Oh, and he aint little.  Smiley  I think he is some form of wolf, he is actually pretty damn big.  Smiley

14 is a really long time for a big dog.

My parents' Dalmatian lived to 13, and that's about as long as Dals live.  It still sucked to see him go, but we had many fun times to remember.

Sorry to hear about the old puppy's health problems C.  Cry  My prayers are with ya.

Thanks for your well wishes guys.

Kiva was doing better, he was slated to go home on Thursday and the vet told us if he continued to improve we could get another 1-3 years with him as long as my mom changed his diet and such.

Overnight last night he regressed and is back to square one. They are sending the bloodwork off to another lab to see if they missed anything. If he doesn't get better or gets worse tonight, they may have to put him down tomorrow.

Kiva is going home today. He is a little better, but not much.

They don't have a lot of hope for him, so my mom is taking him home to let him spend his last days where he feels comfortable and loved, not at the vet.

I might go see him today or tomorrow, send good vibes our way.

Nice for him to spend his remaining time at home instead of the hospital.  Hospitals suck.  I hope he's comfortable for the time he has left.  Best wishes for some peace and quiet and good rest.
