Bugger!  I R movin to Wilsonville on Friday and Saturday, not gonna have any time to go for a "fun" ride.  :(

At least we're getting into the better weather... more opportunities to ride.  [moto]  Since I got the oil changed, I think I've racked up another ~150 miles already, and that's just fair weather commuting, errands, and trips across town.  I haven't even been on any "fun" trips yet this season...

Need to do Detroit Lake again, too (preferably after the snows have mostly melted and the sand/gravel/pumice is gone from the roadways).

what is a cougar run again?

desmosome

That is my birthday.

hmmm....

i'll see if I can get a bike or turn mine back into a street bike for the day....

ryandalling

We could do a Sassy Run for your birthday?  ;D  Who is in?  (Or you can borrow Julie's Ninja 250... it is lowered... but that just means it's easier to scrape a knee in the corner.)

Serious? I would love to ride a little ninja.

ryandalling

I could handle setting that up... we may need to do some test rides... cause I am serious... the thing is lower than most mopeds... oh... and I may need to find some front blinkers first. There was an... incident.   ;D

Dave, Cougar is (was?) a tiny little town in the shadow of Mt. St. Helens on the banks of Lake Merwin.  Some great windy roads on the way up there and great scenery and views.  Once you're up there, the roads get crazy twisty.  You go up I-5/205 to Woodland, then hang a right and follow the Lewis River.

If you have never been up there, it is gorgeous.  A great place to drive up there with your family and spend an afternoon.  There are some great hikes in the area (especially Ape Canyon, a volcanic lahar area with beautiful volcanic rock formations and crashing rapids/waterfalls).

I used to camp and windsurf on Merwin in my younger days and drove up there fairly often, just never on a moto.  I'm itchin' to go.

I think you'd like it, too.  Bring your camera.   [thumbsup]

We generally head east on Hwy 14  to Carson, turn north on the Windy River Hwy, and then up to Cougar through Old Man Pass.

Hey, that's excellent.  I wondered if that might be the return loop, but even better going up that way.

Do you guys come back through Amboy-Battleground?

I'm the newb on this run so I don't know what the gang protocol is . . .
