sweet! I'm guessing Mccain's?
Did the same with the 996. One of the best decisions i've made
If you need someone to bondo/sand your bodyworks, lemme know
Yes
Very glad the 996 decision worked out for you, you never know 'til you try

Interesting. I was assuming there was a gasket, but without tearing it down, I have no idea. Looks like a reasonable place for a gasket to me, at least if it were a Chevy.
If you look real close you can see the gasket if it is there.
It is green material about .015-.020" thick.

<offtopic> look, nothing against the poster, but this is seriously a dead and rotting horse. my 2cents are that when you take a look at the DFW board as a whole, you find one hell of a lot of moto-topics here. i know Slag even did some data analysis on that exact topic, and found that there was no shortage of moto threads, percentage-wise. what i don't get is when people want to dis the social aspect of our little association. i mean, seriously...if we don't have enough moto stufff in just the DFW area (which i think we most definitely DO), there's a LOT more on this board that satisfy anyone's needs. i get that there are a couple nonsense and spastic threads on here, but who cares? they're a fun way to waste time at work, at home, or while drunk. or all three! and if people don't think there's any moto content in "say anything thread" or wherever, then just don't open them...and you haven't wasted any time on them. i know i go through phases where i don't want to post in or look at some of those threads...but it's not a big deal. no drama needed.
anyway, i've just seen this comment or one's just like it so many times, and after a while, it gets really old, and it just keeps coming back up, and quite frankly just seems way off the mark.

let me know if you need a hand with the clutch, Ron...i'd love to give you a hand with it; dry clutches are always fun to tear apart
also i have a nice electric impact you can borrow as well if you need one for that clutch nut, and the 32mm socket

No offense intended. Bad attempt at a joke. Won't happen again. Really appreciate the technical information in this thread.

Hey, McKraut, did you pull your clutch out yet? I'm actually glad you didn't get to do it that night. But maybe you already have it done. Anyway, can I get invited to either your clutch replacement party or RonR's engine tear down or both?

Just got off the phone w/ Derek over at AMS, the heat guards are not yet available.
My bike will be there this weekend for 7500 service.

McKraut - thanks for the offer. I was so concerned about getting the hub tool, I didn't even think to check the size of the hub nut. I don't think I have a 32, I'll have to check. I may holler at you later.
Ditto what cdc said. I'll bring the pickle vodka if I can come over and watch you do your clutch. Maybe we could all bring our projects over to the Warehome on Saturday while photoshooting is going on!

Oh oh me too I want to go!! I also want some critical Eyeballing on my bike. i.e. this is what you should do and that is not a good idea kind of thing.
I might convince Beth to come but it would be a hard sell with out a guitar to wield against McKraut.

when i get to 15 k i am gonna pay someone to walk me thru a a valve job then the next time i am gonna do it myself. if i can rebuild a trans there aint no way i shouldn't be able to do my own valves. plus the master richd says it's super easy once you know how.
