CJ mentioned a cigar thread so here goes.

What are your three favorite stogies?

I'm a noobie so I've got one: Macanudo Portafino.

May get a Partagas today @ the highly touted Tobacco Road. Smiley

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Flor de Oliva rubusto - around $3 per stick
Oliva Serie 'G' $4
Gispert $3
Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte $3

All are very good cigars.

The Flor de Oliva's can be had for as low as $1.50 online.

Cohiba is an interesting brand. It was started by Castro because he feared that we were trying to kill him with a poisoned cigar. The Cohiba brand in the US is owned by General Cigar, and has nothing to do with the Cuban Cohiba. Many brands in the US are like that. Montecristo and Romeo y Julietta are Altadis products, and are not affiliated with their same named Cuban counterparts.

Anybody ever go to the "Big Smoke"?

I went the last year in Dallas.  It was the year of the beginning of the end of smoking in Dallas.  Mayor Laura Miller had just successfully outlawed smoking indoors in Dallas, right before the annual Cigar Aficionado event. They had to scramble for a place to hold the event, or cancel it.  Ended up at the DFW Airport hotel.  Awesome event.  With my entry, I got 30+ free cigars, free food from local nice restaurants, and free shots of good scotch and bourbon.  You could walk around smoking one of your new cigars at the event.  They even had a cigar building event, where you competed against other people rolling and cutting a wrapper onto the cigar.  They never came back to Dallas.  Thanks Laura!!
