Irena Sendler, a largely unknown Polish hero from the Holocaust, has died at the age of 98.

I thought it would be appropriate to take a moment to honor the efforts of a true humanitarian.  We joke about VS being Nazis... this woman put her life on the line against real, armed Nazis, doing things that would have gotten her killed had she been found out.

this is the kind of person about whom we need to teach our kids.

as opposed to the gangstas, sports 'heroes', and entertainers they
all seem to idolize today.
