switched to rain/sleet here this morning.  nothing like ice over 3" of snow.

I tried to ski this morning.  couldn't see a thing.  my goggles were covered with ice.  I was covered with ice.

Couldn't open the passenger door on the truck this morning. I at least had the sense to go out last night and lift the wipers before it started to get too bad. Let the truck idle for about 15 mins while I got ready for work. Roads were no fun...

the wind has picked up, and the already bent trees are now being tossed around

we've had power dips for the past 12 hours or so...

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM SATURDAY TO NOON EST SUNDAY.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER EASTERN CONNECTICUT AND LONG ISLAND BY LATE AFTERNOON. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES. THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF BY AROUND MIDDAY ON SUNDAY.

THE LOW WILL PASS CLOSE ENOUGH TO LONG ISLAND THAT THE SNOW WILL MIX WITH SLEET AND POSSIBLY FREEZING RAIN LATE SATURDAY NIGHT ACROSS LONG ISLAND... HELPING TO LIMIT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS THERE.

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS FROM THIS SYSTEM WILL RANGE FROM 6 TO 9 INCHES ACROSS SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT AND FROM 5 TO 7 INCHES ACROSS NORTHEASTERN LONG ISLAND.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW... SLEET... AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 12 PM EST SUNDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

HEAVY SNOW WILL FALL ACROSS THE EASTERN CATSKILLS... MID HUDSON VALLEY... TACONICS... BERKSHIRES AND LITCHFIELD HILLS FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 6 TO 12 INCHES IS EXPECTED... WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE EASTERN CATSKILLS... TACONICS AND BERKSHIRES....
