Hi all,

Firstly happy New Year to you all and I hope that 2009 is a great year.

It  has been a year since I bought my S4R and so it is that time to pay the renewals on registration and insurance.  I am currently insured with Shannons but would be interested to receive feedback on other insurers from members ie, service, premiums, claims management etc.  Sometimes when you just compare premiums and just go for the cheapest you dont get the quality of service in the event of a claim etc.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Me and Betty are with Western QBE and i know some of the others are too. In regards with the bling it is best to let the insurance company know and will have to supply with receipts if it is regarding a claim. I will get Betty to respond with more details

i have both my bikes with shannons as well as our home/contents & car. been happy with them so far, it's hard to find better inclusions for the bikes, helmets, gear etc. but if the make the beast with two backsers try to devalue them again this year there will be serious words.

It's only insurance if they pay the claim! If they have a thousand loopholes which they try and jump in as soon as you cal the claims department....then the premium is just a company donation.

I'm very PRO QBE, they are briliant, the bloke down here, Lincoln, that regularly answers the phone is bloody good. They paid within days of getting my claim.

They did devalue the bling...and only paid on the reported bling (hey, ring up your insurer the DAY you install it! learnt that lesson) but that is fair in my book.

Covered the riding gear (I leave my helmet in the garage otherwise I cannot walk through doorways - makes me 6 foot 9 inches!). I would love to stick with em!

The point you make about paying on claims etc was one of the reasons I posted this subject.  I havent had to claim and dont want hassles if I ever have to, hopefully that wont happen.  I have done a search on the internet and got some quotes from online companies, one of which is considerably cheaper than the premium from Shannons. But is trying to save $280 false economy when you dont have any experience or knowledge of the company.  At least with QBE and Shannons there seems to be positive comments about them!

Well I've been told. Yes, we are with WQBE and fortunately have not had to make a claim yet so can not report from that point of view. We did find them to be 'reasonable' in price for our situation.

As for the bling - we have had things listed on the system, if it is not listed it is not covered ... although it may be cheaper to replace aftermarket items than replacing with stock (standard Ducati bits are expensive). The difference between 'modifications' (effects performance) and 'non-standard accessories' could prove to be important in the event of a claim ... check your policy details. Maybe, if it is classed as effecting performance, they could state they would not have insured you had they known  Undecided

Jukie is insured for 'market value' (slightly older bike) and Betty is insured for 'agreed value' (which they determine). Although the changes are listed on their system we did not increase the insured value ... which you are most likely to feel in the event of a total loss. Apparently you can increase the insured value, if you choose, for an additional premium, but they will not cover you for the full value expended (perhaps up to a certain $ limit). If you want to increase the value I think you would have to provide them with receipts.

They started to ask for the value of the 'non-standard accessories' but gave up as the list kept going (and we really haven't changed that much).

With QBE and thankfully have not had to make a claim. Not the cheapest but have been good to deal with on the blink addition to my policy.

I have insured my bling with them and am on an agreed value policy. I sent them scans of the receipts for the bling and they accepted them.  waytogo

My agreed value is well above current market value.  Shocked

And have riding gear covered as well. Standard part of the policy now.

So I am sticking with them. Just renewed my policy for the next 12 months....  [moto]

another reason why I think QBE is briliant...

I rang to discuss a Power Commander / fuel injection mapping computer.

some 'ignorant' places would consider that a performance mod due to the 2hp extra in some points of the power curve you get....QBE understood that it can also be used for fuel consumption and making the riding experience better by smoothing out any dips and lumps in the delivery of the bikes power.

I was very impressed!

(seriously, I should wear a QBE t-shirt!)
