Dirt Bike Trails for Newbie Kids
«

Just bought my 10 year old a dirt bike. Now I need a safe, wide open place to take him to get his bearings. He took a Moto Ventures course near Glen Helen this year, but not much riding other than sitting on the back of my Monster since then. I live in the Valley. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There's a place near Canyon Country with nice fire roads, but the name escapes me.

Take him out to Gorman when it warms up a bit. There are plenty of trails for all skill levels.

Here is a list of most of the tracks in SoCal. I like the track for kids because it is very controled and you can always see them. No radom cactus or rocks jumping out at a newdie rider.

Lake Elsinore is a personal favorite. Haven't been out there in a while so I can't vouch for it's current state.
The trails at Gorman (Hungry Valley) are a lot of fun as well.

I rode I5 MX/Hungry Valley trails a few days ago and it was gorgeous. Snow on the ground in some of the higher elevations, but still very warm. practically empty too.

Yep. Gorman/Hungry Valley. They even have a motox track for kids.
Edit: and since it's a CA state park your state parks pass is good there (if you have one). I buy an annual beach pass and use it at Gorman, and all the state beaches.
