Just curious where people are going to have new tires installed.  I assume I can buy them cheaper at CycleGear and have another shop install them.  However, who do y'all trust not to nick your rims?  I have an 07  S2R1K.

Thanks!

I had my tires changed at

Zabor's Motorcycle Repair
8335 Burnet Rd
Austin, TX 78757
Phone: (512) 467-9484

Bought the tires from him, there were no problems and he worked fast. I don't know if he'll take tires from outside.

I'm with Ivo...Zabor's does a pretty good job on not scratching up the rims....and very very fast....

Cycle Gear however....I've had a love hate relationship with them as far as tires go....good prices/ham fisted gorilla armed novice tire monkey destructo...errrr installer....

Zabors carries Metzler/Dunlop/Bridgstone in stock and can order up anything else.......usually in a day and has great prices on what's in stock

Cycle Gear carries Pirelli (sort of) Michelin, Dunlop/Bridgestone, etc......

CycleGear can mount the tires and they have mounted on very expensive rims, but cannot do carbon. I was back their talking to the manager Curtis the other day while they were mounting and unless you have someone not paying attention, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just tell him that you would like them to take extra care and I doubt that you will run into any problem. Paul may bust my chops over this tonight at Ming's however as he has a longer history with CG due to him being much older riding longer than me.

If you are a concerned about their mounting, you can always have MotoAustin do it for you they mounted the front on my S2R when I bought the bike from them. I don't know what they would charge for something like this. I don't have any experience with Zabor's or TJ's even though they are right by my house and I ride by them almost ever day. Then there is always guys like Rever Corsa who do mostly custom race stuff but considering the prices on the rims they carry, I imagine they could get your rubber on no problems.

Hey now! Don't go insulting perfectly nice gorillas by comparing them to those people.

You are absolutely correct El Mat...my bad.....but "slugs" seems so passive these days !! Grin

Yoto....Yes you should (core your cans) respect your elder(s) !!!

I gave  (Cycle Gear)  2 shots at my wheels about a year ....they scrat-scrat-scratched 'em both times....that's not needing a third strike with me.....!  and I'm forgiving to a point, but this is just my .02.....
