As a boy i collected the serial numbers off the tails of USA airplanes at the local base (Burtonwood) in Lancashire
and one thing that has remained in my memory was the writing on a large sign as you exited the base -
"Whatever you see, Whatever you hear, Whenever you leave, You leave it here."
