Fork and Shock Replacement

I have a 2000 750 Dark.  I would like to upgrade the entire suspension (forks and shock).  I would like "bolt on" fitment with no (or an absolute minimum of) fabrication work and the best possible performance.  I am planning on sourcing used Ducati parts (ST2,3,4, Monster, Superbike)

Any recommendations?

the ST, and 'S' monster adjustable showas will bolt right up. SBK (749-999) require modification or replacement of the triple clamps.

for the rear shock, not too sure about OEM swaps. it seems most everyone goes penske or ohlins.

Get the forks from a same era 900... there's a set on ebay right now I thin'.  Those will bolt right up.  Any 50 mm fork tubs will slip in, but you've got to take into account the axle size and speedo drive for a 2000.

Also the shock off a 2000 900 is on ebay - pinwall cycles.

Check the parts for sale on here too - someone was selling an Ohlins shock that would fit - might still be for sale.  It's the same Ohlins model that came on the '00 900S.

I have a 2001 dark and I don't think the stock forks or the shock would be any sort  of an upgrade.  Maybe of off one of the S models.

gsxr fork swap is a good upgrade, but consider the cost of new master too.

2001 also has an electronic speedo - right? 

Some due diligence would be needed.  But I know that the forks on a 2000 900S are adjustable, but non S may not be.  The 2000 900S was a bit of a 1 off beast fwiw

Monsters first went to the speedo sensor in 2001 ONLY on the S4 Fogarty rep.  All Monsters went to the speedo sensor in 2002 when the immobilizer took over.  All 750's and 900's 2000 - 2001 use a speedo drive and cable.

If you can find a 2000 M900S rear shock, it is an Ohlins unit.  Also, used Ohlins occassionally pop up in parts for sale.

Forks?  Later model adjustable forks (M900S, M1000, S2R1000) will all swap in without issues and likely the springs will be about right for your bike.  ST forks do fit, but the springs are WAY stiff for street-ridden Monsters.  SBK forks (916-era) do fit, but the springs are likely too stiff and the top triple needs to be bored out to 53mm and the lower triple needs to be shimmed down from 54mm to 53mm.

Expect to pay around $500 for a used Ohlins rear shock and about $300-$400 for used adjustable front forks.  Your stock parts will likely fetch about $200 for both forks and shock.

M900D models (2000-01) were basically M750's with 900 engines so they had to make do with the crappy suspension.

I hear there is this guy selling a S4RT front end, complete with triples, forks, radial calipers in the FS section.

Perhaps he could even be persuaded to included master cylinders as well

check out the matris fork cartridge kits.
around $800+shp+install, and essentially you've got uber-adjusto forks.
they looks sweet too.
handlebar clearance could be an issue... it's the only problem i'm running into.
don't want clipons...

I have an almost new (200km) Ohlins shock that I took of my 2000 M900ie which should bolt straight on. I also have a set of 999 fully adjustable forks along with cycle cat 53mm triple clamp and carbon faring ready to go. All you need is a pair of clipons which I hadn't gotten around to sourcing

I just upgraded to an S4RS so this project has put on hold.
