Ironic.  A fascist government taking away children because they have names related to a previous fascist regime.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Was there another reason for them removing the children (i.e. abuse), or were they removed because the local protection services didn't like their beliefs. If the latter I'd expect a lawsuit.

I think it's sickening what those parents are teaching their children (or I should say what it seems like they are since I don't know other than a news article)...but they have that right.

Bun-bun

Well that's just freakin' PITIFUL! Now I feel like I have to stick up for a family of racist asshats! Thanks so much!

no kidding.   there better be more to their removal than just the names.

I agree with that

This has been going on for a while up here. A shame. The ones that are going to pay for this are the kids

Ya I was wondering that. You would assume right. Article says child protection services won't comment on these cases. Understandable, but, as a concept, they snag people's kids. Taking children away from their parents is about as hardcore as you can get. It'd be nice to know it was for good reason other than, 'very bad choice of names.'

I'm from Idaho and in the north part of the state and would pay to be the first to slap both of those
so called parents. You have to factor in the 'tease factor' when choosing a name for your kid.
That and not just be general retards too (the parents I mean)
And if you name your little boy Jane he better gorw up big and strong.  [laugh]

i thought parents did things like that to make sure the kid grows up big and strong.

i'm waiting to hear more on the story. i can't wrap my head around the kids being taken away because the gov't disagreed with their beliefs.

YAY!! I'm glad that freedoms of expression and speech have limits. What would we do if the gov't wasn't there to tell us how to live better lives? The gov't does everything better than we could ever do for ourselves.    [roll]

I don't agree personally with naming kids that....so I won't do that to my kids. But it's a long way from abuse (i.e hitting, touching them in their "area", or telling them they are garbage).

Interesting, it took until 2009, not 1984, for "Thought Police" to emerge.  [coffee]

You do know that it was stated the reasons behind this removal have not been made public and therefore, aren't known?
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

True, but I do remember reading the original cake story  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081217/ap_on_fe_st/odd_hitler_cake  and the parents don't seem crazy, just attention hungry.

"Heath Campbell said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because "no one else in the world would have that name."
"Campbell said he was raised not to avoid people of other races but not to mix with them socially or romantically. But he said he would try to raise his children differently."
"Say he grows up and hangs out with black people. That's fine, I don't really care," he said. "That's his choice."
"He said about 12 people attended the birthday party Sunday, including several children of mixed race."

So based on that, I think there was probably just furor and phone calls from "concerned citizens" to have the folks checked out. I still disagree with removing the kids. Interview the parents etc, but just swooping down like this? I don't think so.

Don't seem crazy?

What would you call naming your kids those names?

Don't tell me you'd be surprised when they are picked on, beaten up, and miserable, daily.

What sick SOB does that to someone they care about?
