just bc its illegal in ca doesn't mean people won't do it. afterall the ca dmv gives you two license plates for your car and a lot of people never put the front one on, and they are supposed to by law.

Just spray your plate with coat after coat after coat of clear spraypaint.
Yes it will give off a slight yellow "tint" to the plate, but traffic cameras cant read it due to the glare of the sun/headlights, etc..

I have more than enough cop buddies who have confirmed this works..

I coat every plate I've had with this stuff.  I speed religiously and am yet to get a ticket, soooo... it might be working.

I thought I saw an episode of Mythbusters that proved that stuff didn't work.  Maybe not the same stuff, but same idea.   Huh?

Of course being illegal doesn't stop people from doing it. Not putting a front plate on isn't the crime of the century but is PC to stop you anytime I want. I rarely stop motos. One reason I do is when I can't read the plate. If I can't read the plate I can't run it and verify that some tool didn't steal your bike. If I stop you and everything is cool you will most likely be on your way. Most cops are going to be a bit more forgiving of a no front plate over a rigged to hide plate.

Who knows, maybe I'm just really, really lucky.  Price was cheap enough anyway.

I do like that frame that obscures the plate, though.  I was throwing around that exact idea a couple months ago with my buddy, before I knew such a product existed.  Guess I'll have to improve my design...

I thought that one was pretty slick too except for how bulky it looks.  Make something that wraps nicely aroung the plate and you may have the ticket.  [moto]

I thought the plan was _not_ to get the ticket?

The plate spray does work. Here is a picture I took with that spray on my plate. This is the Photoblocker Spray (same as in the link above)

i tried this and it didnt work with my own tests with a normal camera...

as for the pivoting plate... i dont think police would realize what it was unless they saw you move it up and down.

I think it would be cool for when you park it to hide the plate for asthetics.

until you get a ticket for no plate..... ( i did)
