My wife drives a 02 Chevy 1500 SWB.

It's truthfully the biggest piece of junk I've ever driven....everything has broken, is broke, or has broken and been replaced in it. I don't know If I'll ever buy another chevy, which is hard for me to say, because I used to have a 95 x-cab 1500 which I loved.

I'm sure they are different now, but her truck has left a bad taste in my mouth for GM

At work, everything we drive is Ford. They're decent, but I'm not real impressed. The F150's have a lot of plastic parts attached to the engine, that you'd expect to be metal. I'm not saying that is for sure a bad thing, but it makes me wonder. Of course none of them have more than 9k on the clock, so I don't know. We have a couple 06 and 07 Ford diesels. Kind of finicky. Been to the shop a few times each. The 2  08s haven't had any problems yet. The 02 ford Diesel runs like crazy....it's a good truck.

Had a '98 F150 up until the rpm sensor crapped out and caused a series of misshifts at 70mph on the freeway thus fragging the transmission; happend after 80k miles.

Went back to a light truck and most importantly a manual transmission; Nissan Frontier 120k miles and still running strong.

It's apparently a girls car, too  :P

I haven't driven a Titan but my '07 Frontier has like a 40' turning RADIUS. It's stupid and makes it a pregnant dog to get around crowded places. U turns on anything less than 4 lane road are 3 point turns.  >:( Even then, if it's a 4 lane road w/o a divider, I still can't make the turn.  >:(
ErkZ NOT in SLO w/ his '95 m900!
The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

the new frontiers are practically a full-size truck compared to the older ones.   i love the 99-01 frontiers, they are the perfect size with the extended cab and bed.

A friend owns a Nissan dealership -- he won't sell nor recommend the Titan to friends or family.  His personal one has gone through three rear differentials, one transmission and numerous other problems.  Biggest thing he tows is a small trailer with two jet skis.  I know of others who have had even bigger headaches owning one.  Not recommended.

Looked up these options in CR buyes guide 2009:

The Ford 4WD F150 gets an average review in C.R.  The only thing it got a very low rating in was "drive system".

The GMC 1500 also has an average review, but gets a few more very low ratings, again in "drive system" and suspension and brakes and body.

The Chevy 1500 gets the same marks as the GMC 1500.

The dodge 1500 is average, but again gets a very low rating in "drive systems".

The tundra gets a "much better than average"

The titan gets a "much worse than average".  Low marks on "drive system", brakes, and body.

It's a shame we can't get European small trucks here in the states..

Yeah, but I didn't try to do any tight turns w/ it when I was test driving it.  [roll] I took it on a moderately windy road that was a mile or so long and it handled all those turns fine. A full on U turn is notably different than curves in the road.

OK, so I looked at the Dodge. Why is i I can't get the Hemi in black unless I get the top of the line Laramie? WTF?

What exactly are you looking at? The Sport comes in black with the hemi. It's just below the Laramie (which I don't paticularly care for because of all the chrome bling).

NAKID

Nope, if you go to build it, I selected Sport, then black, then went to powertrain. The 4.7 is the standard engine. When you click to select the 5.7 Hemi, it says "you need to change an option to select this". The only color Sport model you can get with the 5.7 Hemi is Silver.

Let me clarify I have selected 4x4 and crew cab...
