Cool on another Canepa fan, Andre! As for Hayden, well, if anyone is in touch with Derek, please direct him to stats for race 1 and let him know that the Svoloch is grinning

Has anyone else heard that Hermann Tilke of F1 race track design fame has been contracted to produce a new mega-track near Atlanta?!?
While it sounds as if the investors are mainly interested in attracting an F1 calendar spot in the future for a US GP, a "proper", FIA-spec race track with attendant infrastructure should have no problem getting a race or two from MotoGP and/or WSBK
Here are some aerial views of other Tilke-designed tracks currently on the MotoGP calendar:
Sepang
Bahrain
Shanghai
From a Dallas perspective, Atlanta is a lot closer than Laguna Seca (or Indy) - it'd just be I-20 straight into Atlanta
ROAD TRIP!!!

atlanta is a very short trip and i could be convinced to go there before leguna or even utah. been to california for 5 yrs and still think all the people with half a brain have already left. utah, where you gonna get your boogie on after the sat sessions? indy on the other hand is still the meca of all motorsports in this country.

The way Economy is Right now maybe by 2020 would be ready... if they build this track that means Indy has to go, I dont think the teams would like to 3 Races overseas... they already took off China...

Cool on another Canepa fan, Andre!
As far as I know, he's the only factory test rider to win anything in the last few years (world superstock championship 2 years ago, right?). Also holds the record for first man on earth to total a Desmosedici RR, 1098R, and 1198R - which probably comes with the test rider job
I think he's struggling with the fact that he's taller & heavier than everyone else. Apparently he was way down on top speed on all other ducati riders. Hopefully they'll sort something out!
Kallio has a solid shot, though. The man could make that 250 KTM GP bike work, which was said to be very tough to ride fast (consistently). I think (hope) that in 3 races he'll be fighting with the top 5, and Canepa will be closer to mid pack. We'll see.
The main hope, though, is for closer racing. What the hell happenend to the single tire making the race closer theory?

BTW, the 24h du Mans (Le Mans, motorcycle) just started. THAT, my friends, is a proper race. 46 riders starting, more make of tires than motogp has manufacturers, and, as of right now, a leading group of 7 bikes.
The first few laps have been entertaining. Lots of sliding, lots of apexes being missed as the endurance tires warm up. Oh, and there's a kawi leading. Oh, nope, now it's a, humm, honda? Yeah, honda.
Man, this is fun stuff. The start is awesome: the riders have to run across the track, jump on the bikes, and try not to run each other over on the way out. All while PACKED stands are cheering so loud you can't hear the bikes from some cameras. They're still cheering.
Man, next year I'll have to go see this in person!

Oh MAN what a great race for WSBK 1! I couldn't believe the pass that Spies made on Haga. And then he miffs it in race 2 and washes out on turn 1 and hands race 2 to Haga. Man what a great WSBK race at Assen.
Let's hear it for Ducati, 3 out of the top 4 bikes were Ducatis.
250cc GP race about to start.....
