Author Topic: RACE STUFF THREAD  (Read 228703 times)

As the topic states I thought I would retire my old "late season race stuff" thread and start a new thread about anything race or race bike related. The 2009 race season will be very interesting in many ways. Lots of X factors out there. Worldwide economy in the dumpster, lots of teams and riders still up in the air, Haga to cheer for instead of Bayliss, Nicky in MotoGP, AMA/DMG US racing series with all it's changes... even auto racing will be weird with Honda of all folks pulling out of F1. Crazy stuff.

Find something interesting, old stuff, new stuff, rumors, results, opinions, etc. please post them up. I'll start it out with a great archive story about one of my favorite Ducatis that I have yet to own. I remember a friend in North Richland Hills getting the first 851 I saw and him dropping it in his garage (probably due to all the excitement!!) not even an hour after buying it and crushing the side fairing!!! It still hurts today retelling the story.

Enjoy...

Sounds great! I would like to have some folks over for race watch parties but I am too embarrassed by my little, inadequate TV. Call it TV envy. laughingdp We didn't do near the number of watch parties last year as we should have. Can we still have them at Motopia since they went membership only? Or did the membership only deal ever happen? Bet Patrick might know.

MotoPia's right out... Membership only Tongue

Would love to join you for race parties at your house waytogo

So is the members only thing with Motopia a done deal? So you can't even go in and buy a beer and food if you aren't a member?

Yep

From what I understand, you can take advantage of the cafe and lounge IF you're getting something done in the garage.

Yep, Race Central over here as well... 62" DLP TV with tivo... Not much in the way of seating for a big group, but hey, we're not $100.00/mo. either  cheeky  Could be a good opportunity for another Boyd's BBQ  Evil

O.K., my apologies to Brian for this minor thread jack...

Here is a VIDEO link of the brand new Ferrari F1 car with Filippe Massa at the helm doing a lap around Fiorano (Ferrari factory test track).

Turn up the sound - it rocks.

Oh and the video is taken from Massa's helmet cam  Shocked    Always look where you want to go    Very cool stuff, especially if your Italian isn't rusty!  laughingdp

spoke to Patrick last night and he isn't a member.  He might do the $25 a month thing that is only for weekends and invite us all.  OR we could all send Metcalf $5, as he suggested, and he can buy a full membership and invite us all any day of the week....just saying.

Reading the press blurb on the new GP9 unveiling, I noticed one of the sponsors they mention is Gatorade.it.  Turns out Pepsico Italia has sponsored them since '06.  Small world (I work for Pepsico)

That and other neat facts from the unveiling here

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.
