Melandri on Hopper:

"Hopkins has given up: in his opinion money is more important, while now we have to race for nothing," said Melandri. "I'm ready to invest in myself. I'll be alone."

Hopper wanted no part of this "satellite" operation.  I think its sad, because if you've ever been to his site or seen anything he's published, the man is not educated beyond fourth grade by any means imo.  Instead of at least being a man and going out there to do his job, he's just going to sit on his butt.  I hope his career is finished.  I like Melandri's attitude.  He wants to race and still has something to prove.  Hopper has never been much of anything in GP, so I'm really surprised he's going to waste the opportunity to stay on a bike.... whether or not its fully backed by a factory.

thats the way alot of those guys are when it comes to it. they start off for the love of it but somewhere down the line it all changes and that's a shame.

To be fair to Bayliss... he never really had a very good bike or situation in GP.  Still, he surely wasn't in the kind of form he displayed in wsbk.

Hopper just disappoints me.  There are so many people that would give for any kind of ride in the GP paddock, and he'd rather sit on his butt instead of at least try.  I know he wouldn't win on the Kawi with this situation, but he wouldn't have won on it with full factory support either.  He knew that going in anyway.  Just go ride and have fun for gosh sakes.

she couldn't do that because with the competition in that series forever is a long time. however she should pull his punk card and ask him how he feels sitting not doing what you "love" to do. the fans aren't stupid and they can see your full of sh@#. who cares if you dont win at least you will get some respect for just racing and pushing the bike and himself to their limits. who knows there could be a race like indy where the weather isn't perfect and some guys falter and suddenly he's on the podium. is it the way you want to be on there, of course not. but crazy things happen in racing and it could happen. maybe he gets that one day where everything lines up; some guys have problems, his bike is really good, it's a track he likes alot. bottom line he has forgot what it's like to just get out and ride sometimes. you know what screw him tell them i'll do it just buy the plane tickets, some food for my friends and leave them some tickets at will call we are on our way. i may finish laps down but when you see the grin on my face afterwards you will no it was all worth it!!!  [moto]   Grin    Grin    Grin

Remember no spoilers unless noted!  I'm recording the race ( the first one on speed anyway ).  Can't watch it until Sunday night.  Speed is showing race 1 and 2, plus supersport on tuesday though.

I don't know why I don't like Spies.  He seems really nice, and he's fast as shit.  I have no reason.  And yet, I don't, and I won't be rooting for him.  Maybe I'll come around...

Are we getting together to watch this somewhere?  Should I pony up a motopia weekend membership and we can meet there?  What's the word, race fans?!?!?!

I'd be in for watching the race anywhere... is SPEED showing both races or is it a split telecast?
