I'm sure if they showed interest stands would be added and/or a new track built. didn't some guys try building a track near Denton a while ago? I remember getting something looking for investors; like I had the cash for that.
Eagles Canyon is in Decatur close to Denton...
But still EC is in the middle of Nowhere....

Yeah, I think Eagles Canyon could one day be another Laguna Seca, all it needs is hotels, big roads leading to it, maybe a town
Nothing that a booming economy won't cure...

That's true. But isn't Miller also in the middle of nowhere in Utah? Not saying EC is anywhere the quality track that Miller is, just saying they have being in the middle of nowhere in common.
yes Miller is 27 miles far from SLC but there are a few smaller towns around but Miller also won best new race track worldwide a couple years ago, so being a great race facilty wins over distance from a big city. Im not saying EC is bad but last time we where there didnt have much of runoff areas (rocks dont qualify as runoff) had a small cafe which wouldnt work if 5000 people show up, didnt have any covered padocks and no grandstands or RV parking spots...

please read the last line of my previous statement. i did not say just come on out. it said an INVESTMENT would be a wise choice. like a TMS or houston or somewhere near OKC. you could get people from ark,tex and ok. there. short trip from all three places plenty of hotel space. i would go there, tulsa , houston , austin even little rock or shreveport. but not all the way to kansas. have you ever ridden in kansas or northern ok how flipping boring would that trip be.

Acutally I used to wrench for a friend's race team down there during the SCCA season in the late '70's early 80's. Track never seemed to get off the ground the way the owners intended it to.

You may be mentally combining the names of the old Dallas International Motor Speedway (DIMS) and Texas World Speedway in College Station. DIMS was a drag strip with a connecting road course, like the old Green Valley track in Corinth. DIMS was actually pretty nice for its day. It was on I-35 in Lewisville... don't know why they called it "Dallas" Int'l. Motor Speedway??
Saw little Freddie Spencer race at DIMS when he was a kid on RD350 production bikes. He couldn't even really touch the ground with his feet!! Saw him much later in life in 1991 at the one and only AMA Superbike race ever held at TWS in College Station. Stood in line forever to get him to sign a Two Brothers Racing poster of him heeled over on their red, white and blue RC30. It's framed and hanging in my garage. Pretty cool. Told him about seeing him all those years ago at DIMS racing the RD and barely touching the ground. He laughed and said he remembered and said something about having come a long way since then. Ah, duh? How about three World Championships? Two in the same year!!! Can you imagine racing and winning both the 250cc and MotoGP Championships at the same time in this day and age?? Wow. Good memories for sure.
see post below for groveling...

Interesting stuff
While we're on the subject of semi-local tracks,
does anyone know what the current ownership situation is at TWS?
I heard a few years back that the son of the original owner, sold it to a local group of investor/racing enthusiasts (Ferrari of Houston ties if I recall). At the time it was greeat because most people who were familiar with the owner's situation were thinking he would sell the entire property to a developer who would buldoze the place and turn it into a
neighborhood
PH-fft!!!
At least TWS is still a viable track - even if it's not quite up for MotoGP or AMA, it is still an awseome road racing circuit for the masses [moto]

Definitely still a great roadracing track, for both the cars and the bikes (but not at the same time
)
I heard the same rumors 1-2 years ago about the track being sold to someone who was going to scrape it. Seems like a pretty good cash cow. They're operating nearly every weekend, with either racing, club stuff, or teams testing. About the only maintenance is hosing down the crappers and recharging the TP rolls. Never heard what happened regarding the rumor, but it's still on the racing schedules for 2009.
