And now Shoya Tomizawa at Misano:

This has been a hard week in a hard year for MotoGP.

i wouldn't hire a guy who comes in for a tire change mid-race, decides its still not good and quits during the race. If it sucks, run last place - don't quit.

You know, I would lock this thread but I can't see how. Any help out there? There's nothing at the bottom to let me.

Looks like another fastwin started this thread, so you can't lock it.  That person must have been banned, because they are now a guest.

I can't recall exactly who you are referring to, having watched six motorcycle races in the last 24 hours, but in this case, maybe discretion was the better part of valor?

Some racers can't resign themselves to being last just because they were handed a crap package.
Given a competitive personality, under those conditions isn't retiring better than continuing to ride with an unsafe setup, pretending they can ride through the problems, and then throwing the bike away, possibly taking out another rider in the process?

Colin Edwards - Indy.

He came off track to change tires mid-race. Complete bullshit. Still didn't like his setup, so he just bagged it for the day. Complete bullshit to come off the track and say "I'd rather not try because I don't like my setup".

I think CE II may have been more shaken up by the death of his young friend Peter Lenz just than we realize.  He knew Peter and his family, and had them in his motorbike that weekend. As a father who has had his kids at both US rounds, I think he had some real issues that weekend.  Looking at last weekends results,  I think he redeemed it somewhat.

Very interesting and thought provoking article regarding Ducati and their business/racing decisions.

Anyone who hopes TB will return to motorcycle racing should read this:
http://motomatters.com/news/2010/06/12/troy_bayliss_no_comeback_i_m_retired_and.html

Just by coincidence, I found out he's driving a Ford Falcon in the Triple F team in at the Philip Island 500 V8 Supercar race this weekend:
cohttp://www.zimbio.com/pictures/JMZBZwmYQuK/V8+Supercars+Round+9+Practice+Qualifying/kvJFi4kZbAB/Troy+Bayliss
(WRONG YEAR - THE PICTURES ARE FROM 2009 - Pinocch')

I read that Rossi really enjoyed his time at the wheel of a WRC car two years ago.
