Trying to get someplace interesting and stay away from JAX, Norfolk and San Diego.

I'd really prefer OCONUS orders. We'll see how it works out. Worst case I'm sure I could end up with a P-3 squadron out of Whidbey. Go poke Mother with a stick.

They're closing the base in 2011. In the mean time, people here on sea orders are shipping out on det with the squadrons and then when the squadrons come back to the sates they're just going straight to Jacksonville.

I'm up for sea orders, but again, if I take orders here I'll end up in JAX and that's not a very attractive option.

Not exactly making serious bank yet. I am Sub qualified, but the real money comes in a year when I graduate and get to my first boat.

Right now, $375 a month Sub pay. Then, sea pay $180, plus Pro pay $375. After 6 months on the boat, my sea pay will go up to $280 or so...

Anyway, If I pay you $10k to finish the bike, I expect to get something out of it Stu....

VR-55 in Pt Mugu. (C-130s) Those orders count for sea time. Lots of dets, moslty westpac stuff, but you could get a mission to anywhere. And if you are aircrew, prepare to almost be living out of your overnight bag.

The only orders I could find for Point Mugu were for VAW 116. I put in for them twice and didn't get them either time.

I did, however, get Sea OpDet orders to MCAS Beaufort, SC, which as far as I'm concerned is just as good. Yeah, I'll be on the boat when they go out, but what the hell? I did join the Navy, after all.

Back on topic, Stu: what's going on with the CR? Any progress to report? Unveiling at WCDIMBY?

Is that an ASW outfit?

Stu are you doing a SSS Mod on this thing?

Beaufort is USMC Harriers and F-18's, and a Navy F-18 Squadron.

The wing is a good way to do a carrier deployment. You'll have the "oh, you're not ship's company?" but really, you have a better schedule than ship's company...

As an AT I can see the appeal in a Hawkeye SQ.

As a Previous AD I can see the appeal of a HERC SQ.

I got lucky enough to find a billet with my NEC. Even among Trons, we IFF techs are regarded as kind of "special."
