Getting the covers off, is that hard, would like to anodize/ceramic them black.  The rattle can method works great for a couple of months, hate to keep doing it...

Have you tried hi temp paint.....lots of guys have used BBQ grill paint with success.

Oh yeah, it works great but has not held up to rocks and stuff that the road throws at you.  They still look great from about 5 feet (after 4 months) but I can see them needing a new coat in a few more months.  I have not used the BBQ paint, used stuff designed for headers instead.  Maybe on the next paint job I'll give the BBQ stuff a shot, thanks for the tip.

The aluminum covers are not hard to get off.  The technique is simple....Take the cans off the bike and remove the brackets.  Then hand a friend a large rubber mallet and you hold the aluminum cover with both hands.  Have your friend hit the pipe as hard as he can....Boom comes right off.  I tried taking them off by myself with little success.  I am having mine anodized black and if you do decide to go that route, make sure you do a type II hard anodize.  It will last longer and will not fade as fast.  I am picking mine up Thursday so I will post some pics of the finished product.
