That's what she said.

And they're apparently deeper and harder to get.

sorry,
Is being annoying still allowed?

Not that hard to get, but at 3 per day it's almost not worth getting in the water.

I just want him to raise the Abalone Take limit.  Grin

Best Homer Simpson voice

Ehh 3 is hard enough for me to get right now =(

What we do is we stay the weekend. We have a huge abalone feast the first day. At least 6 to 9 Abs depending on the dive group that day and then we take another limit home the following day for the family  waytogo

Personally I like the Sea Urchin but as you probably know Abalone and Urchin don't like each other so they normally are not near each other to harvest.

By the way did anyone notice how many threads turn into Seinfeld shows...

If tune in during the middle of the Show/Thread you have no Idea what Show/Thread is about.

Try reading a several page Threads backwards next time and see if you can figure out the original Subject Matter  Grin

You mean like the one where they go to the wedding in India and it keeps going backward in time until they end up at the Presidential inauguration?

This sounds so v cool  waytogo

I have to get into this. I love diving. butt:

Abalone web site:
"*Note: If you are caught poaching for abalone there are hefty penalty fines and jail time. Plus you may get tagged by a spear gun from some crazed diver. Fellow divers hate poachers, its a personal thing..."
nice.  waytogo

Sure thing. I will let you know next time we head out that way  drink

The rangers sit on the cliffs with binoculars. You can't even hand another a Abalone to a Diver to put in his Tube.

You need a weight belt, Ab Iron, Ab Gauge, and Dive Tube also of course  =)

I much prefer Scuba Diving these days. Man I have seen some Huge Abalone that were temping to take but of course I am a honest person  Wink

How deep are they? The last time I went free diving was in the Bahamas. 100' down was still 75F ! ha!
I can't even imagine how cold it is here at 20'. Arse cold I'm sure. Brief dips at deep depth would be ok. I don't have a dry suit or anything.

I'm sure it used to be done nekid.

You can't really dive in a dry suit. Its to Buoyant  but a 7.5mm Wetsuit will keep you pretty warm.

Well back in the day you use to Rock Pick them... Well that was way before my time. The more picked over the site the deeper you need to dive but in general figure to dive between 10 and 20 feet.

That's the east part though. The visibility is normally really bad so what you do is stick your hand in front of you and dive down as hard as you can as you slam on the brakes as soon as you see the bottom... but then you think its the bottom but its another 6 feet of seaweed and crap growing on the rocks. then you stick you head into holes hoping to find a Ab =)

So how did this go from a picture of the President with a beer into a discussion on slimy, squishy things that live in the deep?
