And his name is....

Ben Collins!

Who the bloody hell is Ben Collins! Apparently he is a former American Speedway driver and stuntman who doubled for Daniel Craig in the latest James Bond.

I really thought it would have been someone else.  Undecided

Yeh I read that in the paper today.

My suspicions were aroused when Richard Hammond had his crash, reports were going around saying Ben Collins was one of the first to the scene of the accident and he worked closely with the Top Gear team and crew.

He was also a Formula 3 driver.

Last time the black stig's identity was revealed he was killed off the show.. so I wonder what's going to happen  Huh?

wonder why he 'outed' himself....maybe didn't see many years left of the show? after all the secrecy it was obviously a decision to let it be known....

wonder if he's gone....followed by...the red stig

or maybe

THE SPIDER STIG !!!!

It was mentioned in the Drive section of today's Herald ... just a snippet really.

according to the snippet in the herald today, it was widely known within the motoring journalist community who the stig really was but they kept their mouth's shut because the mystery of the stig was such a big part of the show.
the only reason he was 'outed' was because photographers were around to take some promo shots of him for the show and he revealed his identity to them... then it somehow snow balled etc etc.
this isn't verbatim, so please correct me if i'm wrong.

apparently TG allowed a german tv crew to interview him as the stig, some articles suggest he told a builder he was the stig cause he had a white race suit and helmet in a display cabinet. there's a heap of different scenarios about how or why he did it but i haven't seen anything from TG or ben collins himself yet.

Seems like the Stig's identity has been an open secret for a while. I read somwhere that TG are "furious" that the media have outed him. Can't find the article again, but here is what is out there locally
