Hey Chris how have ya been?  That's constable Don Walters out in Bandera county. He regularly patrols 337 in between Vanderpool and Medina. He loves to catch fast bikes and cars. I've had the opportunity to do business with him on several occations. He is a wealthy retired businessman from Houston that owns a large ranch off of 337. Very nice guy but stay off his road if your gonna be riding fast.

Hey amigo, long time no see!  Very interesting.  I'm curious what kind of business you're doing with him.  Can ya tell em to leave Ducati's off his radar?  I wonder if he's the same Constable that stopped me and my stepfather several years ago in a dk blue or grey Mustang?  Told me he didn't care if someone was a cop, he'd still write em.  lol  He pulled over a buddy of mine on a GSX-R who was out in front of us so my stepfather (gold wing) and i stopped also.

Funny that he loves to stop bikes and fast cars and drives a F-150.  Wonder how many have taken off on him? lol Wink  I think SA2R said something about the speed quoted was way off.  I wonder if Mr. Walters has been properly trained on how to run radar?  Stay in touch.  Best way is to email or call my cell

He is fully trained in using the radar. I have several customers that have also done business (been stopped) with him. I have heard of guys trying to run from him but he just gets his buddies to block the end of 337. One guy I talked to blew by him doing about 160 on a ZX10. The rider never saw the truck but when he got to the end of 337 in Medina it was road blocked by two county mounties. As he was turning around to go the other way the constable caught up and blocked the other way out.  There was one time that I could have probably ran from him successfully but I used better judgement.  I have never seen a mustang out there shooting. As far as professional courtesy is concerned in your case Chris, I just don't think it matters to him.

you already replied, but here's my answer...  http://www.banderabulletin.com/articles/2009/02/20/political/walters.txt

hmm, "Intermediate certification in use of force" well I guess we don't have to worry about getting shot?  Wonder if you need 'advanced' to use a gun

ok, last comment on this... he's facing an opponent in his bid for re-election.  I wonder how it'd change if anything on 337? Smiley  http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/MYSA021808_7G_VGareacounties_3899009_html19715.html

Well I got my letter back from JP3, and they agreed to defer the ticket as long as I do not break any TEXAS laws for 90 days. I must say that was pretty cool since I was "allegedly" doing 115.

I was coming back into town this morning after spending an enjoyable evening with the wife up at Koyote Ranch and was just outside of Helotes, during that final set of high speed turns, and I notice 2 wreckers in the median. As I get closer I see a biker and I though the worst and figured he had wrecked, but them I notice another biker, both are apparently unhurt and I see both their bikes being hoisted onto the wreckers in what appeared to be good condition. Then I see a Sherrif pulling away and figured that he busted them doing well over the limit and was having their bikes impounded. I remember the Medina Constable saying something about if you are caught doing 25mph over the limit in Bandera that they can tow your bike.

So be careful out there!!!

PS: I'll be the slow guy at the back of the pack for the next 90 days Grin

Hey SA_S2R,
that's great news.  waytogo

Did you use an attorney? I'm interested in knowing who you used to represent you. I haven't been ticketed down there but I do make a trip down to that area once or twice yearly. It wouldn't hurt to be prepared in case I ever do get ticketed.

After I talked a couple of people who had similar experiances, I took a chance and did not use an attorney. It was pretty much a leap of faith as I had to plead guilty and waive my right to a trial by jury and then write the JP a letter asking for deferral. Luckily it was granted.

Yeah they were sportbikes and it was Bandera County SO.

The last time I came down PR37 we also saw bikes getting towed. It's getting hard to have any fun anymore  Tongue

I was on PR 37 yesterday and it was being patroled by a county mounty. It was a miracle that I was doing the speed limit at that exact time.
