Seriously, when i am 800years old i want to rock like Lemmy! it is a religion that requires lots of determination, drugs, and Marshall stacks.

I heard my computer laugh when I clicked the link.

It might be cool if it were a different crowd.

really though, what other crowd would do it?

the crowd that only thinks of the middles ages as between 35 and 50?

I saw that same episode on Discovery.
Some of those guys and it is 95% guys spend a lot of $$ on costumes.
Ren Fest every year or two is enough for for me.

Go for it, do what you want.  Looks like it could be a good time.  I'd bet there's some good folks there... but of course there will be some really annoying ones - but that's how most of the world is, innit?

Unless you go nuts on buying shit, it looks like going 1 time would be pretty in expensive.

I used to know some people in the Society for Creative Anachronism.

I never thought geeks in home made armor could be so uptight.  :-\

oofa, they seem a little too up tight.  Seems like the dagohir folks a faster and looser with what you can do...

After thinking about it a bit, I do think the actual event would be fun. But as soon as its all stop then what. I think of the end of The Breakfast Club, after they all got along, then afterwards went there own ways. I'm not saying I'm too cool either, I consider myself quite the nerd.

KnightofNi

i always thought of the SCA as a bunch of people that really wished they could live in the middle ages, but didn't want to give up modern convenience.
they use the idealized and romanticized parts of the history and recreate that as best as they can. they were the ones that were always stuck in a book. they won't break character until the event is over or unless they absolutely have to.

these dagorhir people seem more like the agressive geeks who were always playing with a broomstick like it was a sword. they might have their character's storyline all worked out, but they are more into the fantasy and having fun than trying to pretend it's something it's not.

there's a big diff in larping and dagorhir.

you won't hear anyone yelling out spells at dagorhir,  you will actually get hit with an arrow.
