I want to thank those members that have provided me with help so far.
I have a 2003 M620S i.e. with Termignoni lowered carbon oval silencers (
96007700B).
I have been riding for two years and during the first year, I low-sided twice scraping the stainless steel silencer input flange and the stainless steel clamping belt holding the flange and the carbon canister together (i.e., at the silencer end closest to the foot peg). I also shredded the exhaust heat guard (
46010383A).
This year I intend to take the bike to the track and I anticipate low-siding once again. I would like to find a way to eliminating the need to replace a $975 silencer every time I learn the "hard-way".
The
R&G Oval Exhaust Protector appears to be the best solution, as it would cover the entire silencer input flange. The
R&G Tri Oval Exhaust Protector seems more elegant and it probably would allow for the heat shields to stay in place, but I think that it would not prevent some of the flange damage shown in the photograph above.
It would appreciate hearing from someone who owns a Monster with lowered oval silencers and who has installed either of these protectors as I am concerned with the clearance between the silencer and the foot peg holder plate (82410241AB).
Thanks, Pedro
