I've been trying to talk mysef into the Speedymoto top triple for so long now, they are all out of stock again.  I had an idea that may or may not work, but I would like to try it.

Nichols Mfg makes a sweet looking top triple for the superbikes that is $90 cheaper than Speedymoto.  I had contacted Jim to see if they were planning on making one for the Monsters, but he said it wasn't in the works.  I just sent him another email to see if he would be interested if I could get organize a group purchase.  Considering that the triple is the same for all 2002+ Monsters, I figured we might be able to get him to consider it.

Here's a link to their SBK triple:

Post up with thoughts.

I'd certainly be interested.
I had the upper and lower speedymoto triple on my last monster when I had a (relatively minor) front end collision...the top triple split in three places.
I suppose the good thing is that the forks didn't bend, but I was very surprised to see how easily the speedy's gave way.
weight is an issue, but triple clamps should be very rigid, as they need to sustain a great deal of force.
look at the nichols and the (now defunct) cycle cat clamps...then compare it to the speedymotos.  the lack of strength in the design is obvious.
I've been waiting for an alternative to speedymoto.  I hope this group buy will happen.

Nichols Mfg is by trade an aerospace manufacturer that is apparently obsessed with Ducs.  I've got their lightweight flywheel in my Monster and love it!  Their SBK triple looks a bit sturdier than the SM triple, but then again by looking at a pic on the web it's hard to tell really.  I haven't heard back from Jim yet if they'll even do it and how large of a buy they would require, but generally he responds pretty quickly to emails so perhaps a few days lag is a good indicator that they are at least thinking about it.

Haven't heard anything back from Jim yet, but I'll send another email off Monday and let him know we have some interested parties.
