What does 23 have to do with anything?

I'm 22, I work a full time job (and have for the last 4 years) so I can pay for my school.

If I got caught hitting a bong I would loose my job. Without my job I wouldn't be able to pay for my apartment, car, bike, insurance, cell phone, or any of the other things I enjoy in life besides school.

It's called make the beast with two backsing responsability. This kid has prooven twice he doesn't have it.
Who cares if he can swim.. .. ..

He's young and stupid...they usually go hand in hand (you appear to be an exception, good for you).

Responsibility, character, smarts...yeah, he's lacking in all these areas.

Well, I am one of those paleomorons who thinks ingesting a plant should not be a problem for anyone.  It's stupid.

If I go out and eat some of my azaleas, who cares, right?  But if I grow and eat some of that cannabis, then they send a make the beast with two backsin' SWAT team after me.

It's ridiculous.

Meanwhile, I can drink all the whiskey (also from a plant!) I want and put myself into a stupor --that's fine and dandy!

I'd love to see a poll or people post on here what they did when they were 23 or even 19.

How many people on here could have gotten a DUI when they were 19?Huh?

How about how many smoked a bowl during this time period?

come on.

Ahhhh...when I was 19.

Easier to list what (and who) I didn't do.  I was a complete moron with almost no redeeming qualities.  Rehab, jail, DUI, constant fist fights....then I met my drill Sargent and things pretty much turned around for me.........shortly there after I met my wife and she pretty much picked up where boot camp left off.

Back on topic...Phelps is young and dumb, big surprise.  He should only be a role model for swimmers...great technique and super dedicated training regime...certainly not a role model for how a college age kid should behave.  Though probably typical of how most college age kids actually do behave.

News flash....your kids away at college are slamming beers, hitting the bong and having un-protected sex...and if this is a surprise to you...

Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's a good idea, nor an example of sound judgement.

That's true, and I certainly endorse obeying the law.  In this situation, tho, I am surprised at the interest.  Some young guy who has the world at his feet smoking a plant.

I am more irritated at his DUI.  You can kill someone DUI.  The worst thing you'll do at a party smoking weed is eat all the fritos and bore some girl with your motormouth (provided you dont' drive later).

But I disagree about the judgment thing.  Nowadays, it is hard to avoid being a criminal.

I have a friend who is a VERY big gun collector -- all WW1 and WW2 stuff.  He lived in NYC for abotu 10 years and kept his (mostly non-firing) stuff in his apartment -- in a wall display.  However, none of them were registered under NYC law -- why ? becuase there is a 6 month wait period for EACH firearm, and you can only do one at a time.  He kept a bunch outside the city, but his favorite showpieces were on the wall (under glass).

Suffice to say, someone busted him.  He ended up paying around 30,000 in fines and nearly spending a few years in jail.  He managed to avoid the felony record rap.

None of the rifles on his wall had ever been fired, and apparently, only one was even capable of being fired.

Some laws are stupid.  It can be stupid to break them, and that is only in hindsight.  That doesn't make them good laws

Some philosophers say it is immoral to obey bad laws.  Edmund Burke thought so.

The legality aside, drugs are stupid (and, as my wife says, they are for kids).

Think about that next time you're having a glass of Bourbon.

Alcohol is a drug.  Or more accurately, it is a "recreational consumable" since "drugs" are technically pharmaceuticals.  The only thing different from pot is the legality.

Think about that next time you're having a glass of Bourbon.

i think about weed when i drink bourbon.. Cheesy  or at least that marijuana is Kentucky's #1 cash crop.

George Washington made whisky.

Thomas Jefferson grew hemp (marijuana).

I like both guys, we shouldnt' discriminate.

I am concerned that weed is a gateway drug. After 20 years of it I'm now worried I'll be tempted to move onto harder drugs...        Roll Eyes
