They are a blast to drive with 175+ hp.

Since when did humor come to the DMF?

Just to update everyone, we got the car running yesterday!!!

Hellica's first run

The Weber will work, but it the engine runs out of fuel even at idle.  I have to run the choke on to keep it idling (choke on this carb doesn't restrict air, it adds more fuel)

Throttle response is WICKED!!!

We had some fuel leaks to solve, but that was it.  It started right up!!

Did I mention the insides of reman 5 speeds are filthy?!?

You should have sent those pics to the reman shop.

And by the way - awesome job.

Just a little update:

New idle and main jets as well as the F7 emulsion tubes have the engine doing better!

It still needs more main jetting though as it breaks up at 2500.

It will start right up cold on the choke and idle off the choke after about 10 seconds.

Throttle response continues to be otherworldly.

One cool thing (pun intended)- we found that the air rushing through our tubular manifold cools the manifold drastically.  Think of running an air grinder for a while and how the body of the tool gets cold. Same thing.

I busted out the IR thermo and the manifold was down to 60 degrees right behind the carb. It got warmer the closer to the blower I took a reading but not more than 15 degrees.

Water condenses out of the air within 30 seconds of the car idling.

Neat waytogo

I'd be a good physics teacher. I'd have the car in the class room...

With an open header earplugs are a must, and if you get down low the exhaust pulses shake your chest!
