Double Eagle and I have been looking at the new beemer, the S 1000 RR.  Apparently BMW is going all out to get competitive and is even going to put a reasonable, by BMW standards, price on the bike. Take a look if you are interested in Ducati's coming competition.

http://www.motorcycledaily.com/04february09_bmws1000rr.htm

And go to the URL below and scroll down to the S 1000 RR clip and take a look at the bike on a track.

I see one of these in Double Eagle's stable in the future, a solid black one.

I've a personal history with BMW - cars and bikes.  Pretty serious folks.  I look forward to seeing what they do with this bike.  With the price point I've been hearing about maybe I could get interested.  At's a lot a horse power.

Who am I kid'n.  If I had the $$$, it would go on a Kitted 1198S. waytogo

At that price, and if the ABS and traction control were well-sorted (and adjustable), I'd have to consider it.

Love the idea of this bike...but stirs no passion in me.  I am sure I would consider it.  I am sure it would be a better purchase than a Duc (lower maintenance costs) and I am sure at the end of the day I would buy an ...1198. [moto]

Then spend my time kicking myself at every valve adjustment. bang head

I own a BMW motorcycle that I love and use to cover long distance....I Duc's are just special.

^  Very typical German add campaign.    waytogo

I bet that bike goes like stink, but it's looks just don't light my fire.  Too many irregular angles on it for me.  Sure would like to take one for a quick (i.e. spirited) spin though.

If the bike comes out in street attire w, 180 hp , that will make it difficult to ignore ! My " R " is rated in the low 170s hp with the Termi race Exhaust and ECU. I have my #2 S4Rs w, ( 7 ) miles on a stock bike and the '07 BMW K1200S w, about 2500 miles and a Remus Pipe that I will move and replace for either a Streetfighter and this new S1000RR or just one of them . The Streetfighter is coming in May and the S1000RR later in the year.      Dolph      Smiley

There seems to be an official announcement now.  I'm not sure abt the head lights, but the rest looks.. ummm.. Japanese?  LOL.  Well, i guess BMW decided to just straight compete with the big-4.  I can see ABS and some BMW-ish controls, but IMO unless the price is very very competitive, probably not going to hold any significant market share.
